Yes, I was thinking a black pinstripe. And maybe a piece of striping on either the glovebox door or the center of the dash.

Yep, one of my favorite cars of all time since seeing Thunder Road in the early 60's. Good job on this one...

Thanks for all the comments guys, It's time for another update before school starts again. I've gotten her running, and the doors are on now. Tomorrow I'm painting the shaved decklid after work, and it'll be on this weekend.

Tonight we played with taillights to see what look we were wanting. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the last one and shave the 40 lights. That's also a*****py paint drawing of how i'm going to build the nerf bar.

My Dad's 40 coupe in the early 60's had Buick lights like those, on the fender. Nowadays around our house we call those Buick lights "40 Ford taillights".

I really don't think they are a good looking light on a 40 Ford though. Lots better choices out there if you don't want stock lights. And no I'm not just trying to sell you some Studebakers. :)

Time for another update! Since the last post I've just been doing a lot of body work on the fenders and I made a custom Hurst column shift. Now we're trying to figure out how the taillights should be done.

The car color makes it seem to need custom tail lights from the late 50s to early 60s type autorama cars ?

I'm not good at suggestions on that, as to what kind.

I like the car it looks good with the gold color. Why not use the 40 tailights they are part of the look of a 40?

I am not one to put down another person's car but those Buick tail lights look just awful no matter where you put them. It looks like they were just "stuck on" to be different. The only other tail light, besides stock, that looks good on a 40 Ford is the 59 Corvette. But the iconic chevron stock tail lights are the best ones to use on a 40. http://www.google.com/search?source...lz=1T4ADFA_enUS431US432&q=1959+corvette+photo

Yes, I must add weight to the ditch the booiks argument.

Stock 40's taillights look good, 39's too.

Time for another update! thanks for the opinions on the tail lights, but I ended up putting 48 fords in the bumper, I think it looks pretty clean. I also got to drive it for the first time today, It was a very exciting day! :D
