Got everything mocked up but having a hard time finding an arm for the slave to actuate the clutch fork (not even sure it would fit because the starter cover is pretty close). I made one but it has too much slop. Been to three metal shops but can not find a tube that fits snug over the clutch fork shaft. If I had a tight tube I could weld an arm on it. Everything is sloppy or too tight. What have you guys used? It would be useful to have a mill/lathe right about now.
anyone have any ideas for a clutch release arm that fits over the clutch fork shaft? I bought an early style shaft because it does not have the flat end on it this way I can install it backwards so that I can put the slave on the p***enger side. I thought about using the original shaft but the starter cover is in the way, preventing me from installing it from the p***enger side. If I could make the starter cover removable I could use the original shaft with the flat end and a hole to bolt an arm to. Any ideas?
On the trans kit I sell I include a fabricated arm that is the same as a 39 arm. I use a DOM tubing that has a 3/4 ID and ream it to fit the 7/8th shaft. I tig the arm on before reaming. The slave kit I offer is designed to mount on the left side. I did a custom right side installation like you want using the cast iron intermediate bellhousing with the Powermaster gear reduction starter. I removed the starter can and tacked a large freeze plug over the hole. Worked fine.
