Stuff just appears ??? Does that happen to you?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by porknbeaner, Nov 14, 2011.

  1. OK here's the deal, I was just in the basement looking for a quart of oil the missus said was done there. Didn't find the oil but I did find a new in the box jig saw. I do not have a clue where it came from.

This sort of thing happens all the time. I was looking for an oil fill for an old front fill last year and found a pair of what appear to be a brand new old pair of radius rod yolks wrapped in brown paper. I have also found extra starters on a shelf before and recently found a pair of brand new tie rod ends for my old Stude.

I haven't a clue where this stuff came from, it just shows up, normally when I am looking for something else.

I am probably not the only person that this happens to.

Anyone else find stuff they didn't know they had?

it has been happening lately, its a sign I need to reorganize and get rid of stuff. Especially when I buy a starter only to find one on the shelf the next week!

Yes it happens all the time. I thought I was the only one it happens to.
I found a pair of double hump heads the other day and still have no idea where they came from.

The Good Parts Fairy. :D Happens to me all the time but it is because I buy something, put it "where I know it will be" and can never find it again, so I buy another one. Then one day when I am looking for something else it appears. I also think there are Gremlins that hide in our garages and put this stuff away then put it back later on. Even wrenches I lay down go into some black hole, only to reappear months later.

One day I was looking for a part that was in a bright red box and I did the process of elimination on every shelf in the shop. A few minutes later my Son walked up to the same shelf I had thoroughly checked and said "Is this the box you are looking for?" Gremlins, I tell you.

I was wondering where I put those double hump heads. Can I have them back now?

  10. Thanks, I was able to give some away and feel important.

The saw? Thanks, the wife and I were discussing just the other day that I needed a new one and we should watch for a sale. ;)

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who has stuff multiply, makes me feel a little less wierd.

hahaha, that´s funny. But it ´s happening to me also. Today I got a phone call from a friend who is collecting parts for his 30 Coupe project. He´s gonna mate a 392 Hemi to a tremec T5 and asked me if I had his Aluminum Chevy Bellhousing. I answered no. He insisted I had one, because he knew he gave his to our friend Mike, and Mike passed it on to me. I really couldn´t remember... but there it was , up on the shelf , still in the box he put it in about 6 years ago...
And lookin through my garage today I came over a few other things I wasn´t sure I had them:)

How old are you, P 'n B...??? Yeah, Yeah, I know I'm not supposed to ask that, but I happen to be in the same boat and I chalk it up to old age...I find "new" stuff all the time and I don't remember purchasing it...matter of fact, I found a 100 dollar bill last week in the trunk of my Cadillac...must've put it there for safe-keeping...!!!

  13. Ah hell Rog you can ask me anything. I'll probably be untruthfull when I answer but you can ask me anything.

That was from when you kid napped me. I remember laying in there and say I think I just felt a 100 dollar bill fall out of my pocket. ;)

Once in a while I'll find something I put in a "safe place" while I look for something else. Of corse I'll remove it from the "safe place" to a diffrent "safe place", because I'll need it soon. Only to loose it again for five years or so. Either that or I originally forget what I was looking for and actually use ,install or marvel over my find.

  15. this morning i found hose that i was looking for 6 months ago but couldnt find. i figured i threw it out and went to get more. surprise. so yes it happens but it is never anything cool.

if anyone wants to hide a hemi in my garage feel free. or even anything cool for that matter.

You're just getting old. How do I know? Cause I'm old....

I'm just afraid that I'm going to start a thread that I already started a year ago that I don't remember I started, only to start it again to get answers that I forgot I already had...

    Let's see now:
    1. You meet new people...
    2. Never eat the same meal twice...
3 Always have a fresh story to tell...

Mr. Bean, suppose we have a case of youngs-hiemers underway? ;)
    Been there, I think,
    Done that, I'm almost certain...

Now which project DID I save this for?

I've read a HAMB thread before and had a thought that I thought ought to be posted. I've read a little further down the thread and found a post by myself that was very similar to what I was just thinking.

Happens all the time to me. Most recently, I was rummaging through the massive amount of boxed parts that came with my '49, and found a 6-71 Detroit. Sad thing is, I boxed all these parts up a couple years ago for my girlfriends Father . . . way before he gave the truck, and parts, to me. Oh well, it made me happy to see it . . . again :)

  22. Since you guys find this stuff, if my rubbing compound, my shrinking disc, or the Orange bottom organizing box with a clear lid that has the goofy drive you crazy gotta have it clips and such let me know will you please.

Maybe its some sort of worm hole in the space time continium these parts travel.

    He says,
"dad, I dont know what that stuff fits"
    I say
Son, if I got it it only fits a 53/54 chevrolet..........

Somewhere in my house is a "safe place" that things have been disappearing into for decades. Someday when I die, they'll clean the place out and find all my best stuff all safe and sound... but I pretty much figure that I'll never see it again.

Try moving sometime. You will find a shit load of stuff you swear you never saw before. I started to wonder if someone else had a key to my place and was storing stuff there without telling me. Seriously, some of the stuff I would swear on a stack of bibles I never laid eyes on before but it was mixed in with other stuff I knew I had....

Just today I found a small box in a room i was cleaning out. Opened it up, really nice pair of Model A spring perches. I just bought a set last Wednesday.
