Hello all, About a year ago we picked up a 1955 Lincoln Futura replica at a Me*** Auction, we believe it is the Bob ****s replica but we don't know much more. Do you guys have any information that could help us? Here are some pictures of the car:
Well hate to break the news to you....It's not what you think it is.... YOU NEED TO SEND TO ME AT ONCE....THAT THING IS KILLER! Other than that....I'm not much help!

Here's a few pics, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=270670&highlight=lincoln+futura
I know Rod & Custom or maybe Street Rodder ran an article on an original one that had turned up behind a barn in a circa 1984 issue.....? It was white and had been exposed to the elements for a couple of decades even then.
I've got the pricelist/catalog from Fantasy Cars, that was/is in El Cajon,CA,owned by Bob ****s..The date on it is September 1992. Not sure Bob is still with us,but it was a detailed list of what was included, and how to install it on a '71 to '75 Ford LTD frame..I also talked to Marty Martino about that time about his bodies. He was in Virginia, and had built at least a couple of bodies, plus a Batmobile version. Is your a running, driveable car? How's it ***led? Wanna sell it?
I recall seeing a twin to yours used on an episode of the short-lived TV show "Viper". If I recall the episode, the car was an advanced experimental car that had been hidden by its creator. When it was found, it was so advanced that the bad guys naturally had to have it for their own greedy purposes. It was cool to see a non-Batmobile Futura doing chase scenes on TV, especially since that one wasn't loaded with lead and seemed to be able to go faster than 40 MPH!
We bought the car from a estate sale at Me***. The person that had it also had many many other movie cars. A while ago we got in contact with someone that also had the car and he sold us the bubble top (he kept if when he sold the car for some reason). While looking at another forum topic posted here, I saw a post of the car when It was in the hands of the people we bought the bubble top from. Do you guys think its the Bob ****s replica or one somebody else made? And is it true the Bob ****s model was made off molds from the original batmobile - aka the original Futura? The post under that is also me, I apparently forgot I posted here before. All information you can give us would be amazing!
It is running, I will have to check the ***le and we are interested in selling if the price and time is right.
If you want to see it, we could work out a place and time. ------ Introduce? ok, My dad has been into collecting cars for many years. He has a 40+ car collection (at one time 100+). We have Dusenbergs, novas, funny cars, rares, all kinds of cl***ics, we had a batmobile at one time. He has had alot of things over the years, some things really interesting. I am his son, the one that uses the computer to post stuff like this, take pictures, etc. So yeah, that's about it.
What do you want to know? I have all of the reciepts here for everything we did to the car. The ch***is is a modified 60 - 64 galaxie. I think we actually identified it as a 62. We used RideTech parts for all the air ride Rebuilt all the suspension. The 390 was rebuilt along with the trans. we put a serpentine drive on it and made an aircleaner out of stainless mixing bowls to look like a flying saucer per the owners request. We also did a 2" stainless exhuast on the car and rewired it end to end and a plethora of little things to make it function as best as it could. The car was really a static dispaly for the most part but when we were done at least you could start it up and drive it. It IS the Bob ****s replica and is the only one in existence. From my understanding, it was built on one of his Batmobile bodies and modified from there to resemble the Futura. ****'s batmobile molds were pulled off of 1 of the 3 fibergl*** cars that were used in the TV show, not the original Futura/Batmobile. I believe we have been in contact in the past and autowerks told you they did all the work. Donny
A good place to start for information is when it was built. I can't seem to find a definite year/date anywhere. Any history (where the car has been, if it was in any tv shows like viper, movies, etc). Any other little random factoids would be awesome.
You have already been to what is probably the best online source of information about this car. http://1966batvehicles.yuku.com/topic/3964/The-****s-replica-story My history with the car was relatively recent and all I know of the history I learned on the the above linked forum. Maybe contact Jay Ohrberg?
I've seen that one, I'm quite sure that it is Bob ****s old car. It was featured Special Interest Autos issue in July or August 1993. I picked up that magazine a few week ago and do remember that it was a blue '52 Chevrolet cvt on the cover (however, I cant find it right now...)
From Bob ****s price list of September 1992.. One piece body..13,000 Top dash panel..300 Rear deck panel..350 Inside door panels..310 Inner and outer door edge jambs..450 Front plexigl*** canopy..400 Rear canopy..500 Center canopy..500 Wood blocks cut and shaped for the dash, with aluminum sheet to bend into dash..350 His comments were that the canopies didn't fit as well as he'd like, but were p***able. He says in the cover letter that he bought steel Batmobile #5,a stunt car, from Barris in 1986..Restored it,showed it,and sold it to a guy in NJ in 1988,but made molds off of the steel car before he sold it. He also offered for sale several Batmobile specific pieces he had made to "show the public what was done to the Futura to turn it into a Batmobile.." Bob suggested the body be mounted to a 71 to 75 LTD four door, second choice a two door.. If,as others have posted, that there was only one Bob ****s Futura ever made, then his plans never came to fruition..Too bad,he put a lot into this, and seemed like a good guy to me.
I would like to have one of those bodies , but put a 56 Lincoln or ford Mercury top on it , chopped of course. I love the Futura!
ditto...AWESOME car. when I was a kid (in the 50's) I had the original Revell model of the Futura. then when the Batman TV show came out, I went to dig it out of my box of models to turn it into my very own crusadermobile. it was no where to be found. devastated, I built my Batmobile from a story in a model magazine, using of all things, a 68 Olds 88 kit for the base. the 1/1 scale Futura in this thread, regardless of what it actually is, is quite a find and I would LOVE to have it........if only I had hit PowerBall last week.
