Yes it's me again with another shoebox thread. The ***le says it all: has anyone put an FE in their shoebox Ford? Will it fit? Pictures would be nice too :D

  2. Nope no one has ever done that. ;)

    There that'll get 'em started.

Well I'm kinda thinking about putting one in mine (whenever I get around to getting one) and I'm seeing if it would be even possible. My parents' '72 F-250 has one and I've always liked the grunt it's had, but I'm not sure if it would fit or not which is mainly why I'm asking.

...how's this one? It's loaded with a 427 SOHC. Pictures taken back in 2004 , I think. I have no idea who own s it.

I realized I was wrong, and deleted the post saying that I would give up the swap because I couldn't use an AOD... Sorry about any confusion. Found a place that has adapters.

Your parents "FE" (Ford Edsel) is a "FT" (Ford truck). ;)

Does that make it different then? I thought a 390 was a 390, regardless of what application it was in...

Putting a Ford in a Ford PIECE OF CAKE no matter what the combo is, it's usually already been done. An FE series out of a T Bird would be pretty nice.

Yep, somewhere around the 1961-1963 range had the 3 deuces with the 390 I believe.

Don't bet on that. Ford built soooo many different versions and in the day you could order what you wanted. If it didn't come out of a bus or dump truck you can make it do whatever you want in a car. Wait a minute, if you don't care about a little difference in deck hight you can do whatever you want with it. OH, wait another minute, if you exercise your skill and exhibit your ingenuity, you can make any engine fit in anything.:)

That would be an "M Code" (The VIN has an "M" instead of the standard "Z")and $$$$$ for the Intake,Carbs and Air Cleaner...
There were about 200 Factory Built between 1962 and 1963.

The auction site has the manifolds for around 700-800 and a full set up for 1500...

  21. OK this is pure unadulterated spam but I am not real far off and I have a 390 I will let you have for core price. It came to me as a runner but I never used it so I don't know that it actually is one.

  22. F-E in a Shoe Box Ford with a.o.d. I can do that, no big deal. It's just another job. In fact I have a fresh machined short block that's not ***embled yet. Your choice of Cam/lifters. Top to bottom, front to back I'll get her done. Cole Fosters 49 is all the proof I need to get me started. After all it's just a motor swap, bring it on.
Only 200 factory Tri-power units built? I think I've seen every one of them and owned 10% of them. I'm amazed! In fact I'm using 1 of those rare units in my current 57 Ford project and yes they are a little heavy on the price. I've learned it's Tough to be Kool if your Cheep.
