As you can see there is not much left.I did manage to save some of the stainless trim and the wiper towers. Not bad for FREE!! This car has been sitting in the woods since about 1968.It is only 3 miles from my house and I have driven by it for the last 18 years and never saw it,it was about a 1/4 mile off the road.About 12 years ago,I bought a 49 Chevy fastback from the same property and the guy never mentioned this car.Tomorrow it is going to the big junkyard in the sky.
I'm glad to know that you salvaged whatever useable parts that were still on this car. Most people would take one look at that car and think it's completely worthless shit. But even the roughest field cars usually have some good stuff still stuck to them. I see a few more bits on the car from the pictures (bumper guards/brackets?), make sure nothing good is left on it before it gets sent off to become 37 Toyotas. Cool pics, too, thanks for sharing.
Yeah,it is a little rusty so it kinda crumbled on the way out. I did find the grille bar with the teeth in tact.
It's a runner! Just a little Bondo and some wide whites and it's cruiseworthy... And somebody already started on the top chop. Put it on Ebay with keyword "Rat Rod" in the title.
bumpers should be 3 parts, maybe some are salvageable, also the bumper guards. what's ya doing with the grill teeth???
Speedway's dropped axle kits require 49-54 Chevy (or early Ford) hubs and drums, so those should be worth keeping, if they're still there. And the bumper guards are on it too, on the back looks like the guards have an extra bar to make a licence frame. That's gotta be worth something. For whatever twisted reason, I'd love to see a detailed list of what you were able to save from this car. I'd hate to see anything go to waste.
Many would look at that and only see what it COULD look like. Call plowboy...I'm sure he could do something gay with it!
The quarters look like what I started with....OUCH/ I still can't believe that someone doesn't make huge patch panels for these cars with the popularity they have. Larry
Man, and I thought my field car was bad, I've seen it in a new light now after seeing your pics, at least mine will see the road again. I never thought there was a condition a step below a parts car, but I think this one isn't even a no.6 on the scale, it's like a no.10! Cool pics though! Rich
