I did a set years ago with a soldering iron. Just cleaned up the edges with a round file.

There's a lot of other good ideas on here though.

If I was worried about "getting pulled over" I wouldn't be running "Cherry Bombs"
Thanks for the tech tip about gl***. I've made a mistake or two trying to put a hole in gl***.

Thanks for posting, never thought of doing it with heat. But you really need to clean the stove top.

    Another country heard from!!WTF dude!
What a great post, this application can be used for alot of other things also, not "Old school" related.Simple , easy & everyone has the stuff ya need to do it with.
When i was a kid i use to use my moms staek knives, heated over the stove to "chop" the tops on my AMT models, along with wood putty for bondo!lolI guess its good to never grow up!
Could the socket in a drill press do the same thing as the copper tubing for cutting gl***?Or does it have to be copper?

How would you chuck a 3/4 inch copper tube in a drill press? Other than getting a larger drill press I don't see how to do this.

( I made sure my stove was clean before posting this however I might have a skid mark in my drawers, I hope no one is offended )

You just have to heat the socket a lot more.

Very nice tech tip that I will use. I have been holding off on this project for a while not being sure how to approach it. To bad the negative comments crept into this excellent post. Thanx again for the great idea. ~sololobo~

  9. I've always used a Forstner bit and plunge slowly in a drill press, or a hand drill. Leaves a nice clean hole and no residue. Your idea is great, especially if ya don't have a Forstner bit.

Thanks for the tips. I wonder why some guys feel the need to make comments on posts that aren't in keeping with the spirit of good people?????

  15. So what?

I have gone through periods that I thought that blue dots were cool and blue dots were not. Sometimes it had to do with how far up in the Sierra Nevada I was and how inebriated when following someone with blue dots.

That said it has nothing to do with the thread. It never occurred to me to melt a hole in the lens I have always drilled them. Good tech Friend.

Actually sometimes it depends on how much pain they are in or how much *** they are no longer getting. :D

They used to say you had to have a pretty thick skin to survive on the HAMB. We are not necessarily good people in a way that most folks consider good. Not bragging or complaining just being honest.

Been running blue dots for 30+ years, never been pulled over for it.

  21. Who flicked your balls today? :p

  22. I always just drilled them out with a little hole saw on a drill bit. I've cracked some lenses before, though, so that melting thing might be a nice solution.

Those taillights on your Chevy truck are almost made for Blue Dots with that circle pattern in there. In fact, I've got some myself. :)

  23. Because it is stapled to the punk rocker. Duh I thought everyone knew that. :D:D

Drama aside (I'm not talking about Jim here) I still think it is good tech. Some fellas run red dots I am not sure what they are but I'll just about bet you gotta make a hole for them also.

    As said before, great idea.
Lets see a picture of your truck! not just the blue dots. :)

  30. I dunno Jim you have been around for about everything I have ever posted I am sure I have topped that one at least once. :D

I am not sure why it is that every thread has to be laced with drama these days. I mean hell we used to have drama but it ment something not just someone whinning about someone else who voiced their opinion.

Well I better fly gotta get the stove cleaned before the wife gets home.
