anybody have family, friends, coworkers or know any fellow rodders who is stationed over seas who would like to have a care package for the holidays? i got a bunch of rodding mags and my wife and daughter would like to send them a care package. let know. thanks bmita
Contact hot rod ch***is or Django on the board, check out the chrome czar forum they normally do something
you better check as the overseas APO or FPO are shutting down in many areas as they pull out they are not shipping to them so check before you mai to see if the adresses are current they are shutting down ahead of time befor the troops leave as i read on a military site
Yea there are plenty of us guys in Afghanistan. They are not taking no more mail in Iraq as of OCT 31. I have plenty of soldiers over here if you would like to send them to us. Thanks too.
My family and a lot of others sent care packages to Zeke here on the board when he was in the sandbox last year to divide out a****st the people in his unit. He might have names to send similar packages to. Munchies that don't melt or get smashed too bad that are in small packages that they can stick in their packs or pockets are great. Things like homemade cookies are great but are hard for the guys and gals over there to pack along unless you pack them by twos or threes in zip lock bags. There are a bunch of my fellow Scouts that were in Viet Nam to who the names Jo Cheney or Lena Hirschback would still automatically mean COOKIES as my grandmother and her best friend sent some terrific care packages to me that got shared.
We can put together another care package like we did last year that can be shared by a unit but I think I would like to send smaller ones to guys you might think won't get much of anything. Every unit I was ever in seemed to have a couple of guys who didn't get much mail and never get a care package from home. I'd like to send something to them. PM or email me if you have ideas.
I will ask the OIC or NCOIC and ask them if they have some guys like that and will send you a PM tomorrow. It is 2000hrs right now over here and we are all in ****tered right now.
thanks to those who answered my post about the care package, but i still have gotten nowhere. still dont have any addresses to send any packages out. i would really like to get this stuff out to guys who would like to have the mags.
Ok here is an Address for you John Smith GDLS/MRAP FOB JOYCE APO AE 09310 that is the base I am stationed at here in Afghanistan and I spoke with our Chief here and when the soldiers are done reading them here we will forward them to the little bases we support, and everything that is sent will be given to them and I will have pictures to post when it does happen. Mail here is real slow so it will take a while for it to get here. Thanks for everything these guys over here will enjoy the **** out of anything.
john51mer, what else do you guys need. when my car club was in up and running we shipped a few packages to iraq. i am sure a lot of us old vets would be glad to get you some stuff. i am not shipping any blondes or redheads they stay stateside!
Hey, Good for you and your family. We send care packages also and in the last 5 years have heard that soldiers have a hard time getting Christmas cards to send home to their families. Over the last 5 years we send out packages of 300-400 cards to soldiers so they and their fellow soldiers can send a card home to their friends and families. All the soldiers seem to be very appreciative of the cards and the ability to send some well wishes homeward. You may want to include a few packs of cards in your care packages.
yea the only thing with those big companies that send to troops over here is they never get to the little bases and collect at the bigger bases where everything is available already. The little bases like the one I am at and many others out here don't even have a PX (store). So the soldiers have to wait for need things and buy them or obtain them when the go to the bigger bases. This base has a nice MWR and what we to is when we get excess stuff we have cubbyhole in there and we put stuff in for all to use and have. I also send things on helicopters to other bases so they have some thing as well. This is a very special time and a sad time here since we can not be with our families and I try to help even though I am only one person. I have been helping a little each year over here. Thanks for anything you do no matter how it is done. It is the thought of helping out that is all that matters. My thinking is I will do all I can to see all of these soldiers come home standing upright so they can be with and enjoy their families, and that gives me a smile on my face and a warmth in my heart every time I see them go home that way.
At this point in time the 101st ABN DIV is still home and not slated to head back until next year sometime. I'm just a simple old disabled vet at this point in time but the love I got from the HAMB during all three deployments is still much appreciated.
Yep exactly what we dealt with at FOB Howz e Madad not a damn thing. everything we got was by care package as we built the fob up from a patrol base. Most of us were out at patrol bases half the time enjoying the **** with even less...other than a talented Cookie (well if they were with me at least ) Bad enough that I was getting only part of the care packages being sent. Damn thieves.
The men and women over sea or where ever love getting mail. You can talk to the local recruiters and they should be able to get an address to a unit or a ship for the Navy guys and you can send on out and let the command hand it out. I was on deployment over Thanksgiving and Christmas and some hot rodders did that and we got a **** ton of mags and shwag. All handed out at Christmas dinner. made watch that night go a little faster!
I am in the Stan and would love to get ahold of a few mags. I have a few other hot rodders here on my small COP as well. I hate to ask, but hell I need them...LOL SSG Merritt, Mike CTF Dealer 1-67 Fob Walton COP Jannat APO AE 09367
@John51Merc I am a Charleston boy as well... Family is in Anderson now, so I call it home when I go home on leave! I am on a small COP... a college football team fields more players than we have Soldiers. Once every 6-8 weeks, they plan a trip to KAF. Mail takes 6-8 weeks to get here, so if you run out of it, you are screwed...LOL. Stay Safe!
Man you beat me to it. I was just reading your profile and getting ready to hit you up. Hey man I feel your pain I am here in Joyce and it takes around 2 months to get **** too, and the only outlet we have is the locals and you know how that goes. Hey man if you need something or if get some extra stuff for xmas I will send it your way too. I just sent a lot of hot rod mags to some outer fob's in the south. They needed something to lift the spirits. Been rough this year. Safe safe to bro and when you get back to chuck town hit me up.
Stay safe yourself bro... I am down south as well. Same to you, IF I get anything extra, I will send it your way! It has been rough this year... not one damn firefight though, f*cking IEDs and no Pos ID at anyone shooting... oh well? We will definitely meet at Big Johns for a PBR... love that sh*thole! My bro is an El Cid grad, so we soent a lot of time there... Stay Safe!
i will try to get the packages out this coming week. i was talking to some coworkers who wanted to know if any of you guys are into hunting? they have some deer and bear mags they would like to send. also is there any snacks, food or anything else you guys would like to have?
Man hunting mags are great to, and any snacks will def work. They are really hard to come by over here. Thanks for anything that is sent and it will be well received and appreciated.
just sent a couple of boxes to the hambers here in afgah. i used the medium size flat rate box, mags fit perfectly topped each with 4 pair of fresh cushioned socks and off they went for $11 ea. don't forget to make out customs declaration. and put number of mags on it. i guessed at 20 ea, i didn't count them going in but each box was 11lbs! the flat rate box makes it easy. lets all show our support esp these in forward positions!, they don't get to visit PX, hot shower or flush a toilet!
We just sent out 5 boxes to soldiers overseas. 4 Christmas card packages (see my previous post on this thread) and ONE full of magazines for my niece. If anyone would like a Christmas card package sent out to a soldier, please post another address of PM me if you want to keep the name confidential. We have packages sent out to Merritt and to Smith. Hope they both enjoy the packages.
I know it has been a while coming but I just got back from traveling around Afghanistan and I got to talk with the soldiers that received the packages y'all sent to me. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all who sent the mags, socks, snacks, and cards etc.... The were all well recived and used. The mags are still in rotation around the FOB's here. Thank you for all your support again
