Dunno, stick, I have to admit that I don't know your car. And I apologize if my shaky diplomacy offended anyone. Of course unfinished cars are part of the game; I've come to Paso with my car in primer too. And there are some real craftsmen among the ranks of the hardcore/traditional/rat rod builders. My issue is that Paso -- or ANY major car show -- used to be where you saw cars you would aspire to; stuff that made you say "next year I'm gonna be here finished" or gave you ideas for details for your own ride. I just don't get that from the segment -- rapidly becoming the majority -- of the cars that are showing up at Paso now.
MAJORITY??? were you at the same event i was? yeah,i was there with my brother in his old beat up Hudson, but we definitely felt in the minority.
Ya the wheels are not my first choice either but overall it is a really high quality built car. He bought it from the builder last summer after looking for a 40 convert for over a year. He and mom love it, they had thought about driving their flattie powered 40 sedan but did not fully trust it for that distance...
that's what I was thinking. Yeah there were a few flattened/primer/satin paint jobs. But pretty much all of them were on finished cars and it looked real good. The few unfinished cars sporting primer and what not where still pretty damn sick but where definately NOT the majority. Shoot I parked my primered beast like 4 blocks out cause I felt out of place. SICK rides.
I rode shotgun with a friend (Dave) in his 55 Buick (suede orange/white) from Salinas with a few others from our area... only stopped once, so it was a good drive... I took about 250 pictures and my friend (mark) took another 100. I put up 64 on the site - http://www.deadendmagazine.com/events.html - hope ya'll enjoy! -Juan
nice...I think you took that green flake bobber picture right next to me. My camera was fragged and I didn't get the picture. But I remember a dude walking up right next to me and shooting a picture from the exact angle of your photo. Side note...NOBODY got a flyer from me? The black double sided glossy ones for the show in vegas....october? Road Devils? Ring any bells. I handed out over 100 of the things....sheesh.
that is my pile, it is on ebay right now, i'll take anything over 15K. selling it to move into my own shop and build some more, had enough of the 4X shop. have a bunch more pics if anyone's interested.
Thats the name of the club i'm in out of Jackson area, CA. just a few of us, w/ some cars that are just getting out there.
the worst part about getting rid of this truck is having to put "rat rod" in the description just so it'll be seen...
Deadender, THose are some of the best Pics I have seen, (love the close up format and them taken down low) Whats the story on the first few on the highway, did you guys just stop and hop out for a few quick shots.. It does not look like some deserter road
Thanks! We stopped at the abandoned gas station just north of Paso Robles and took over the exit ramp(I think it's Los Lobos Rd of 101). One of the cars' alternator belt fell off... luckily it didn't fly away. So of course I made them stay a little longer by taking pictures. Only one other car took the exit and honked at us.. but we were already taking off. -Juan
I got the flyer! I wanted to go last year, but was too broke. If it was a fat mexican guy, than it was me. That bike and the orange flaked one on the truck were some of my favorite. -juan p.s. Did anyone get more pics of the orange '59 Impala on wires? I must of missed it, but my brother claims it was one of the cleanest low riders there.
