Hey HAMB Can anybody share anymore info or pics of this shoebox? Would love to see it before the paint was stripped. The height is spot on and it just looks right. The wheels look to sit high in the body??? Maybe 16's? Thoughts. Cheers. Andy.
These photos come from the Larry Watson personal Collection and those are all I have on this car. I only have one photo of the car with the paint still on it. There was no infoon the owners name and I have no idea how the car was repainted etc.
They look to be 15's at first glance. My thought is if they went to all the trouble of lowering it, and done so well at it, 15's would have given them another 1/2 an inch give or take. Look at the rocker panel height - it's lowered pretty good. Love the stance, and it looks great unchopped. Really cool car. Stance, and proportion always win!
Thanks Rik. Are the photos dated at all ? It would be interesting to know how old the car was when painted and how long (and why) before the paint was stripped. I have a 50 coupe and Im really keen to clone this car. Thanks again for sharing the pics! Andy.
Thanks. Yeah unchopped coupes look fantastic stright out of the box! The interior looks to be redone, the tail lights look frenched, or is that just my eyes, the extra side trim, its been nosed and decked but kept the hood stainless trim. It looks to still have drip rails and rear quarter seams. All this and the killer stance. What else have I missed? Andy.
Also interested to hear from someone on the paint colour? The Early Ford V8 Clubs, Ford Restorers Guide lists only Sheridan Blue (too dark and not metallic) and Bimini Blue Metallic (the factory colour of my coupe) for 1950. 1951 offered Culver Blue poly and Alpine Blue which looks kind of simular from the poor and small sample in the book. My thoughts were given that the coupe may have been quite new and the fact that the body mods were very mild that the paint might have been a factory OEM colour with the custom paneling over the top? Andy.
