    Gents,

I want to replace the carrier bearing on my driveshaft but hesitate because it looks "complicated". If any of you have replaced this bearing, let me know if there is anything unusual about it.

    Thanks!

3/4 ton burb? or what setup do you have? A stock half ton would have an enclosed driveline.

Mine, if I recall correctly, was fairly normal. 1/2 ton driveline, 8 years ago when I removed that stuff.

I had an older GMC that used something totally different than the 2 readily available carrier bearings. The first time that I changed it I was at the parts store and a guy I went to high school with was there. He said that is exactly the set up on my dump trucks!. This was a bone stock 1500 three speed 250 six with a 12 bolt. To change the actual bearing on this you needed to have a press. The old bearing heated and drove off and the new one pressed on. Not a difficult with the right tools.
