I don't know if this is a foreign car or US made but I'm thinking of buying the body.Only ID on body as to any kind of name is "aaf"with what seems to be a very stylish F on the left front (Drivers side)of the hood On the upper rear quarter at the taillight level is 750.On the tailgate it says "varidrive "this is a small unibody pickup about the size of a Crosley.the inner bed walls are plywood there was also a canv*** bed top that fits into a channel around the cab back with 3 approximatly 1/2"dia steel bows which would result in sort of a covered wagon looking camper cap there is no engine but the trans has 2 opposed drums containing variable diameter pulleys like a snowmobile power unit.the only instrament inside is a vdo 80 mile per hour speedometer .and yes it's MPH not KPH there are no other places for guages. Its rear wheel drive with 12" diameter 3 lug wheels.I'm reasonably sure it was manufactured in early 50s at best.It has a 6 volt system and a transvers front spring like pre 47 Fords I'm thinking it had an opposed 2 cylinder engine like early Crosley of 750 cc.I have never seen another vechile like this think of a side profile along the lines of early VW pickup.Someone on here has got to know what it is !I will try to get pics soon but this is a very accurate description.Unless i find this thing is a real rarity it will make a neat quick to build rod to play with till my HAMB friendly T is done. It's older than 64 for sure and with my svo blown and injected 2.3 and trans will make one very fast ride!
3 lug wheels? 750 cc? sort of a pickup? probably way off....but at least you can tell us what's different?
thought it might be renault but it's rear wheel drive it's not this one and the front doesen't look like a morris the engine compartment is only long enough for a very small opposed 2 cylinder engine I don't have pics yet but will try to get some soon. The writing is script like handwriting so the DAF is a possibility.the fact its not your typical block letters and it's fancied up makes it hard to read.It IS a pickup but is factory equipted with a wagon type canvas back enclosure the track of which is built into the cab rear.
this is a daf 600,there´s a750 model that looks about the same.it´s dutch btw. http://images.google.se/imgres?imgu...ges?q=daf+600&ndsp=20&svnum=10&hl=sv&lr=&sa=N
Hey Propwash you got it it's a DAF pickup older than 1960 there'sa pick of a 1960 daf car which is identical to the truck from the doors forward. This company also made dafodil cars one of my dads friends had one of those when i was just a little kid like 6 years old when I tell people there was a tiny Dafodil car they think I'm nuts !I googled DAF automobile and got pics of some of the cars but NO trucks yet
Goliath made a few small trucks that came into the US also, similar in size to the old Subaru's of the early 60's. There were quite a few like that in Japan years ago, but I think it should have had a KPH speedo if it was Japanese. Any pictures?
Thats it !I knew that someone here would have the answer .Thisd thing is in good shape for it's age how hard is it to get parts to restore one like a replacement engine if it's rare OR it's getting hotrodded like I said
Can't help with stock parts supplier, but the rodding idea sounds intriguing. If it's using a drive and driven variable pulley setup similar to a snowmobile, then might it be possible to install a motorcycle engine? Might even be better to drop in a water-cooled jet ski powerplant, as the variable drive setup would be responsible for "gear changes". Roger
I say hot rod it,an original 2 cyl daf would be to boring to drive, even the last ones,77 was the last year, was not that great, they had a 4cyl engine though, but those v-belts in the varidrive/variomatic is prone to breaking and the whine is terrible.
