    So went to my local treasure hole today and stumbled upon a piece of a hood with an emblem on it and i think it came off and older mercury marauder...its a chrome m with the marauder head on it any ideas on the year..ill post pics in a few

    You should have that hood emblem rechromed then sell it on ebay, if you dont have a use for it I mean.
    I've just bought a hood ornament on there, and if THAT one you have was rechromed and in great shape, you should be able to fetch over $100 or so for that.

    I think the M is from a 1957 Merc wagon.

    "Mercury" is the mythologic god of speed.....

    "Marauder" is a model name they used in the '60's.

    the head in any Mercury badging is that of Mercury himself.

    i know. i'm a freaking nit picker.

    The M is from a Canadian Mercury truck, in Canada they don't sell Ford badged trucks they just get a M badge.

    i've long since stopped wondering how stuff ends up here! i've seen some oddball stuff locally in the past thirty years. i saw a '57 Renault Dauphine less than a month ago, that the owner says has been here since new.

    It'll probably cost $200 or more to have an ornament of that size and detail rechromed. I'd just clean it up and sell it as-is.

  19. Not from any Merc truck I've ever seen, and I've seen every generation of them.
