Well it's time to hit it again, get your blankets, your long johns and crank up those heaters, it's time for the Mid Decembrrrr Run! While the first run was more about the stops along the way this year will be about the run itself.

We'll leave Gypsum at 10am on Saturday Dec. 17th and head east along K4 highway until we get to the huge *sarcasm* city of Dwight, KS. There will be a stop in Herington, KS for fuel, it's about 30 miles into the trip and will be about 60 miles until the next fuel stop. We will stop for lunch somewhere along the way, I just haven't decided where yet.

From Dwight we will get on K57 and head towards Junction City KS, This section of road is really the reason for the run, some great roads that should be an absolute blast to drive in our cl***ic rides. Hills and curves are not in an abundance in most of KS but along this route we'll get a few. These scenic routes will lead us on to old U.S. 40 heading west towards Chapman, KS.

There will be a museum stop along the way in Chapman at the KS Auto Racing Museum. The museum is home to a bunch of cool memorabilia including the 1st NHRA and NASCAR trophies which were both won by KS folk! This will be a good opportunity for everyone to get out of their rides and get warmed up, and talk a bit.

Then it will be back to Salina, again on old 40 through Abilene and Solomon. We will once again stop in at Calvin's Customs to see what he's been working on, then off to the Paramount again for some food.

Sadly the Stiefel is booked that night so we can't watch the new Vintage Torque KKOA DVD there... bummer, but!!!! I'm hoping to be able to show the KKOA DVD on the tv's at the Paramount, not as cool as in a big theatre but then again we don't have to stop hanging out, eating and drinking in order to watch the DVD as well.

I hope that some of you can come join us, last year was 22-25 people at it's biggest and I had an absolute blast hanging out with old friends and meeting some new ones.

    So that's Saturday Dec. 17th!

I'd love to come Travis, but we will be doing a lot of traveling that way anyway with Dewey a couple weeks ago and the concert the 9th.
    Maybe next year!

Here's a rough map of the first leg of the trip, 29 miles in total. From Gypsum, KS to the first gas stop in Herington, KS.

That silly *** Ranch Wagon won't give any of it up for some reason, must be related to Mrs. sololobo. I know there will be home cookin, cool cruzin, lottsa laughs, hate to miss it. Have fun and Trav, please take plenty-o-pix. ~sololobo~

Solo, just do like we did in our young and dumb days, roll all the windows down, peel off down to a T shirt or less and play freeze out. All of this "The good ole days" would give everyone a chance to relive their youth...NOT:(

I can remember when...The old Model A didn't have a heater, not even one of those manifold hot air heaters, so we just bundled up and went anyway. Didn't even have snow tires or chains either.

It was a pain in the **** sometimes, my job when it was really below zero, and going to stay that way, was to drain the oil into a bucket, take it inside where it would stay somewhat warm, then could be poured back in when needed. I remember my mother wouldn't let my dad put the bucket on the cook stove, because she didn't want any spilled and make a mess on the stove, or catching fire.

Sometimes I remember my dad pouring in about a half a gl*** full of gas into the oil, run the engine enough to mix it up, then shutting down the engine. After driving for a while with the diluted oil, warming up the engine next time we drove it, the gas would evaporate out. I guess he got that from the old airplanes, that had the dilute systems on them. Same thing.

(for some of you younger readers, we didn't have multi grade oils back then. 5W20 or 10w20, everything was straight weight, usually 30W year around)

So..why not relieve your youth Larry?

Thank you Jonnie, hope to see you again soon! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well!

I hope you make it too, Pov needs his bodyguard you know!

I will aim to take plenty of shots, wow that was a bad pun... I hopefully will get plenty of video as well. See you in the Spring!

Count me in when you do that run! Have a safe trip out to the coast, both of those events sound like a good time. Still taking the truck out to bring back that Coyote?

My uncle Povertyflats has taught me that these things should always be about the people first and I truly believe that. That's why there's 3 big blocks of time on the schedule to hang out and b.s. with everyone.

Oh trust me, even if I had to come down to Derby and drag you up here you are coming on this one! Thanks for the support my friend!

They must sell insulated Carhartts in Kansas for the heater impaired brigade. Not that prissy stuff they have come out with but real drive the tractor in winter insulated coveralls or bibbers. I wore them in the 48 in the winter when the heater went on strike.

Thanks for the invite Travis, but we will be having Christmas with our kids that weekend. Really hope to do this when we get the opportunity. Found out the weekend that the ol Chevy needs a warmer thermostate for winter driving. That heater just did'nt get all that warm.
