I am trying to find out if a 1955 cadillac 331 engine can use any of the later heads. The 55 heads were a one year only application, but I'm wondering if the heads from a 365 or 390 could be utilized. If anyone can provide some technical knowledge and advice on this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

365 and 390 heads will work. Early 331 heads will also work but they are lower compresion.

Just went through this myself. If you use the later heads, you should also change to the later lifters, pushrods, and rocker shafts. Otherwise, you may end up with the valves held open. The late 57 and newer 365 has a pushrod that is almost 1/4 inch longer than the 331.
