I have searched the posts here but all I have found is historical and not much technical info. I am kicking around the idea of doing some fibergl*** work with the students and thought that a Kurtis Midget might be cool to try and reproduce...does anyone have any measurments or dimensions? Not trying to be 100% accurate but I would like it to look correct
Anything would help, even a wheelbase...any help?? thanks-

Does 63" sound about right for a wheelbase? If so, wow these things are small - having never seen one in real life I have no frame of referance...

You might try and PM HAMB member Dean Lowe. He is quite familiar with Kurtis midgets

  6. I think you will find that 63" is a bit on the short side.

The original Kurtis Kraft midgets of the postwar era however did vary in wheel base. Rule makers tended to specify the minimum and maximum lengths.

I have a copy of the rules here in Australia that show in 1951 the minimum was 68" and the maximum was 76".

I think you will find the Kurtis cars mostly would fit into that range.

I am presently building a KK replica and it has a 74" wheelbase.

Wheelbase ran from 66" to 72". 68" to 70" was the most popular. 72" was considered a "long track" car in the US.

Contact Nick Hardie he makes a reproduction of the frame blue prints. I have one hanging in my office and it says standard wheel base is 71.5".

I had a late Kurtis in my shop but delivered it on Saturday.

But as stated, Dean will know and he may also know if Arlen Kurtis has any of these copies for sale.

Let me know if you can not find Nick's contact info.

I have a 1946 Frank Kurtis letter, parts & price list.

Like Speedrome said in his post, Frank wrote that the standard wheelbase was 71.5" but could be adjusted if they were notified as to what you wanted when you ordered your ch***is.
