Someone asked the question about a 55 Chevy last week, I checked the search function and it looked like Luketrash was doing it on his 54 Ford, and Dads56 on his 56 Mercury, so I'm wondering if this is the same as either of those. The 55-56 Fords interchanged alot of stuff, but not sure if Mercury would be the same. Same with 54-55.

Here is a pic of the stocker, the bolts from top to top measure 3.25" and from top to bottom measure 2.25." Anyone know of one that will bolt up with relative ease?

It looks like the front hoses have some cracks so I thought that it might be a good time to do this if I'm going to be getting into it anyway.

    Thanks.

Your '55 Ford master is cylinder is basically the same as the one in Dads56's '56 Mercury. The bore may actually be different. Mid fifties Fords and Mercurys used the same master cylinder casting so the dual master cylinder swap that was discussed is pretty much the same. The biggest difference being the push rod length. :)

Fatty, could you take the same bolt measurements that I mentioned above, for Custom Grime and myself? Here's a photo of the measurements that I took from the center of each bolt...

    Deyo,

    Napa Part # 36-222 for a premium '67 Mustang dual m/c. Costs around $85 &
    should bolt in

I'm going with that one on my '53 Ford.

I had a 57 mercury m/c in my roadster with the brake pedal ***embly from same. I wanted to change to a dual m/c for safety. I bought a 70 mustang m/c for all around drums. It has the same 3.25" across pattern and bolts right in I just didn't use the top bolt holes. The push rod is slightly different in length but requires less travel into the M/C so should work about the same. I cant tell you how it works because I'm doing some extensive work to the roadster and wont get to the master cylinder for another week or so. BTW, this cost $ 31.00 at a non- discount auto parts store.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips, sounds like the only thing Ford didn't change from year to year was this master cylinder. Using the kick*** website that Autozone has (the ONLY thing they have going for them) it looks like the 67-68 and 70 Mustang and the Galaxies all use the same part number,

Fenco M 1485 or Cardone 10-1485. Not sure if I'll try to find a reman one from NAPA or just use one of these from autozone. Depends on how helpful my local NAPA guy wants to be.

And if you want a booster, 62 or 63 F100 bolts up, and a Mustang master cylinder will bolt right to it.

'67 Mustang manual master is a bolt in. Internally proportioned for proper bias, use the front reservior for the front brakes, rear for the rear. Should take an hour to install ad cost me $25.00. I put one in my '57 Ford, everything should be so easy
