I have a set of chrome lugnuts that are rusted & i want to soak them in something to remove the rust.
Since i'm not working i was wondering if therews any household stuff I can soak them in like coke or something?
i just want to remove alot of it, then i'll polish them by hand.
    Thanks

    In Cider !!

Seriously....try vinegar, it has an acid that will eat rust.
    May take a while.

I have used diluted(with water) muratic acid before. experiment with the ratios. You don't want to dissolve your NUTS!!:D Sparky

PB Blaster works. Or try a baking soda/water mix w/ lotsa soda.

    AAAGH!!!!!
    No MUriatic!!
Not if you want chrome !!
    It eats chrome in seconds.
If you use that you'll be looking at nickel.
Either use a quality polish like MPR or stick them in a reversal tank.
1lb of Sodium carbonate or bicarbonate,
    (both work)
    plastic bowl of hot water.
Doesn't have to be hot but hot is quicker.
    piece of steel on sides.
Hook to battery charger, make parts negative,
    steel positive.
Give it a few hours anything from 2 to 8 hours depending on parts.
It will make rust back into iron with out removing chrome.
