Hi to all. I have been playing with old cars most of my adult life. Mechanically i do fairly well. On body work, I can't please myself. I currently have a 55 belair 2 door hard top. It is like me looks origional on the outside, but some modification on the inside. I did an off frame restoration, installed a 5.3 fuel injection with 4L60E tranny. 336 posi

Any of you guys know the value of a 56 belair post in modest condition, floor pans bad, body is fairly good no quarter panel damage, car is complete. bumpers are rusty, origional chassis with drum brakes and 6 cylinder eng. running???
I would like to get a feel for what it may be worth before I buy it.

    Welcome from Kansas.
If it helps, I paid $3500 for my avatar car. The VIN indicates it was built in KC, so I plan to keep it if for no other reason than that, but in my opinion, a 57 is timeless. The body is in good shape, but has some places that will need some effort. The floorpan and rear fenderwells will need to be replaced, and the rockerpanels - they were bondoed. The engine was replaced with what appears to be a sbc 305, 2 barrel with an HEI distributer - they cut a hole in the firewall so it would fit, so that needs to be fixed. I think the diff is stock and the tranny is a saginaw 4speed. My take on rebuilds is I want to drive it. I would be willing to invest up to around $20k to get things right, but I save up, then pull the trigger. I don't want a $900-2000 investment sitting on a shelf or enginestand for 9 months before I can go to the next build step. Just my 2x.
