What a great video. I feel very fortunate to have been able to do the things I did for my Dad ( and his cars). He has been gone 5 years, but his legacy lives on. :)

wow...that really touches home as my cousins did virtually the same thing 2 years ago with my uncle....although it wasn't his original car it was an identical 66 ss 396 car in the same white/black interior he had in his early family days. they got it for his 60th birthday. very cool commercial that made me smile!! thanks

  5. One of my first memories is of standing in my dad's garage, listening to him rev up his 396, 425 hp, 66 Chevelle. It was just a slightly used car at the time.

He had uncorked the headers to go racing and was tuning it....I was probably about 3 years old and just stood there, entranced by the sound and the power.

That started the obsession in me.....it's never left.

When growing up in Whittier, there was a man that lived in the neighborhood who had a Chevy just like the one in the commercial. Same year, same color, same hubcaps, and was a SuperSport 396.

I had two SS 65,s in 1969. One was a red 300hp 4speed and the other was blue.Put a FI cam and solid lifters in the red one. Two months later while I was at summer camp with the Kentucky National Guard my wife called me and said that while she was driving it to work it caught fire and it was being totaled out by the insurance company !!!!!! She was not hurt but I sure miss that car to this day.

You're all a bunch of cry babies.

Me too, what a great story. It's hard to conceal tears in the office (I had something in my eye of course)

  10. Things sure have changed. I too have memories of riding on the package shelf of dad's cars, or sitting IN the steering wheel of his Ford truck. I hope I'm creating those kind of memories for my kids in our old car experiences. For alot of the "youths" now though I suspect their "memories" of their cars will be how that saturn wouldn't dent or how great the fuel mileage was in that prius or ..... Sad.

  11. I like the commercial, Chevy just recently aired.. 'very' briefly. A white lady gets into a new 'Impala', with no emblems showing it's a Chevy. She goes over everything with a smile, an even enjoys the drive! They tell her it's a Chevrolet.. and the look on her face was like somebody shit in the car!

    Man, that was good.

  13. Man that hits home with how cool old cars are to some of us. Boy the 396 sounds NICE.

Way to go Chevrolet...maybe a new generation of buyers will "get it."

Great commercial, makes you wish cars could still do that to you. The first time I saw that comercial at the start where they just show the heater controls I said outloud "'65 Chevy". It was Thanksgiving day and my nephew just looked at me.....I said " I owned two of those and they are the best looking Chevies ever built....Still kick myself for selling the SS bigblock. I also had a '65 Caprice...yeah I know "they didn't build the Caprice till '66". That's what most people will tell you.

Your right! The big 3 need to start putting some "soul" back into these cars... I know they've tried with the pony cars, but allot of folks can't afford those.. :(
