My daily driver, a 1972 chevy c-10 has ****** trouble. I took it to a local ,echanic and had him put in a mild B&m shift kit. Well ever since i had the truck back it has leaked trany fluid like a motha, i tightend the coolant lines running to the radiator and snugged up the bolts holding the pan up. Well today i cut the block to see if it was still leaking and as i pulled up to a stop sign not 200yrds from my house i heard a funny "pop" noise and then the sound of somthing frying, i quickly made it back to the house and saw that the pan gasket had blown out in the top right corner. My question is do i put in a new gasket and go or is the pan suppose to have that much pressure in it, enuff to blow a gasket out ? Thanks TJ
the trans is vented there is very min. presure in the pan/case the g***ket popped out from over tightening it the noise you heard I don't know I think you should take it back and let the guy know it's not right and get your money back or have him fix it. I had to fix the tranys that I've ****ed up Dustin
You most likly overtightened the pan. It will squeeze the gasket out. it don't take much to do this. Just slap a new gasket on it.
