Hey Stude, it was a joke. The  should have given it away. Gear reduction starter, ANY true MOPAR guy would know that. Hell, most decent GM or FoMoCo guys would know the sound too.

A bunch of Whiners. I don't see a damned one of them ponying up a 360/tf in the same condition as that 350/350 for 500 as most of them would want a thousand and cry then.

I pulled a 350/350 out of a Mullet Camaro a few years ago and put it in a Dodge half ton about the same year as yours using one of the universal sbc crossmembers. It fit in with room to spare an no issues with clearance problems. I pulled a 56 Desoto Hemi out of the truck with an od trans that I still have in the milk house. The Desoto was already in pieces when I pulled it though. The Camaro rear end fit pretty well too.

You will find when you pull the old motor, there are no motor mounts on the frame to work with, just holes in te frame. Also if its a 4 speed it has 2 mounts for the rear of engine and front/rear of trans. With that said ANYcombo you use other than stock, you will have to do some fab work.Good luck..................YG As far as room go,s only problem is if you use two motors.

Ended up getting the engine and trans for $400, sitting in the bed of my ford now. The 230 comes out tomorrow and the sbc going in will be a short work in progress. I'm going to go with some of the solid triangle mounts like are used in modifieds and just fab some mounts onto the frame to bolt it all together. Ran the numbers and it's a Camaro 350 that's pretty much all stock but I assume that it's been rebuilt at some point due to having a rusted up chrome pan on it and some silicone on the top end that's obviously not factory. Still has the quadrajet carb and stock exhaust manifolds which will all be there to stay for a little while. I may switch to a holly 2 bbl carb and intake eventually just due to knowing nothing about the qjet carbs but I know there are a lot of people that really love the qjets so I'm going to run it a while and see what I think.

There is a MOPAR 286 Hemi in a '57 D-100 here in my area. Nice running truck and beautifully detailed too. The engine build is impressive. Just how many 50's vintage Dodge pickups do you see around? Especially with a built small Hemi. I like the lines of that era of the Dodge pickups. Beginning in 1961 the flat front turned me off. The much later ones are now stylish again to me.

How about no? He cherry picked 5 years; take a look at a broader view - I am not a huge Ford fan but they kicked Mopar's ass here.

They also wonder why someone would pry a diamond out of a ring and stick in a rhinestone.

The questioner already gave us the reason... because Chev engines and transmissions are cheap and common....which they are.... in every sense.

    What's a "286" Hemi?

I'm a Mopar guy myself, and I'd stick to a Mopar engine, but then, it's your tin and anything that gets an old car or truck out on the road is good for the hobby.
If the GF's Chevy pukes the 350 (and it will!) You can pull the engine out of the old D100 and put a different one in then. Or not......

I'm sorry, how is one more win than Mopar considered "kicking their ass"?...yeah, Mopar is in 2nd place by one season in that list you posted, and the next closest brand is half of those wins from Ford or Mopar...you've got quite the skewed view of facts to support your ramblings...

Maybe it had something to do with the way Bill France would change the rules to prevent Dodge or Plymouth from winning.

Is this possible? Sure. He wasn't even sneaky about it.

To him it was all about money and a grudge match is good for the gate. He knew there were a million Chev owners, a million Ford owners and a hundred thousand Dodge owners. If he could arrange a ding dong battle between Ford and Chev he could fill the stands, if Dodge won all the races his income dropped by more than half.

Should have included the 1-2-3 win as the debut of the HEMI engine in 1964, not a season win. Got to keep my facts straight.

Sounds like you have her under control.Good luck and as far as the post to keep it all Mopar,im for that BUT sometimes you do what you have to do,its your money ,if you can deal with it then so can i.How many free offers have you had for a Mopar drivetrain ? Most of my friends have Ford or Chevy and give me a hard time but i stopped that with a simple. You buy me a Ford or Chevy truck and ill drive it. No takers, just loyal to there brand untill it cost them money.Like to see some pics,of your swap.Ive got some motor mounts off a gm 350 for a boat and they are cool, easy to fab to the frame rail.Good luck.........................YG:)

You could also include the NASCAR compact car series begun in 1960, when compact cars were the hottest new thing on the market and there was a lot of public interest in their performance.

The slant six Valiant totally dominated the series. Smokey Yunick said at the time that the slant six responded to a few simple hop up tricks more than any other engine he ever saw. He was referring to the Hyperpack package, a factory option available from any dealer.

A friend of mine saw a documentary on the Petty racing dynasty. It included some footage of the Valiant in action. He was surprised when I told him it didn't have a V8. One Valiant was clocked at 128 MPH on the oval.

NASCAR killed the series after 3 or 4 races. No point in keeping it going if GM and Ford aren't going to win.

Had a 65 valiant post car a few years back with a hot rod slant. Was originally a 2 bbl super six out of a 78 car. Used all Clifford Research performance parts, Holley 650, shaved the head a bit, Mother Mopar mechanical cam and lifters, 391 suregrip. Little beater ran low 12's high 13's on 8 inch slicks.

Should have dropped in a 1958 '350' golden commando with an A833 MANual tranny.
