What is the perfect amount of chop for a 35-37 Ford pickup?
I am thinking about chopping one of my 35-36 pickups.
I am looking for the perfect amount that looks proportional.

I'll refrain from posting my personal opinion until later. I don't want to sway anyone.

Let me restructure the question to get more interest.

I am a single ,24 year old, pin up model looking for information on my 53 Dodge 4 door. What color should I paint my wheels to best represent the rat rod Kulture?

I think a subtle chop on these trucks looks best.

    Ahhh! The infamous Question.......How much???

Well Root, 3 to 4'' seems to always get the nod, but myself I like it a little heavier. I guess it would depend on your size and preference. My 35 is getting the heavy treatment.

    Good luck with this one!!!

  7. Hi Root, Leave stock , I reckon Henry got it right after the 34 pk ups, the fat fendered trucks look perfect to me. Just my opinion but Im just a Limey what do I know..........:D

  8. I think 4" and graft another roof on, the awkward hump in the rear section of the roof looks off. Stude have a nice shape rear roof section.

I voted 2-3 ONLY because NO chop was not an option, we're talking proportionally aesthetic.

No chop, run with fenders, make it low, gloss acrylic, www., cool exhaust and then show it off.
    That's my opinion

i say leave it alone if you are going only 2-3 inches. seems like time, money and effort could be better spent elsewhere. most people wouldnt recognize a couple inches gone unless parked next to uncut cab anyway. use the money saved for your next long distance drive/car show. just my opinion.

i just chopped a 36 pickup. i cut out 5 inch and slanted the windshield a bit because i didn´t want to cut the roof in pieces. i wanted to save as much of the great patina as possibly because i don´t want to paint it.
    hope that helps...

Gotta paint the wheels red there cutie-pie....oop's, I mean I like a heavier chop 4-5 inches, the 5 looks good out of tradmot's truck. What was cut out of Winfield's shop truck? It looks perfect.

I thought about that after I posted the poll. You can't edit the poll....well at least I don't know how.

My dad's is chopped 4 and I think it starts to look odd after that. I was thing about 2.5"- 3" personally.

I am 6'2" so a radical chop is a no go. I just threw that in there to give the heavy chop guys some input.

My old '35 was chopped 3 1/2" as I recall. You've seen pics of that on the build thread.

you said you are 6'2" , go 4" but no channel job. i'm 5'11" and did my 37 chevy pick up 4"chop, 8" channel and 2.5 removed from the bottom of doors and cab. (got me back into clean steel). i was looking at the top of the windshield frame with the seat bottom 2" off the floor, legs were all bent up too, looks great but not comfortable. the guy i traded it too was 6'3" , he says to me" seems a little tight in there, i guess a 4 speed is out of the question.. (what we wont put up with for the "cool" look). lol.

2-3" was my vote, but I would not do it. I like them fine as-is, with fenders and everything.

Retro61's truck is cool, though.....probably the best bobber '36 I have ever seen.
