I was just reading the Bandit T bucket thread and nostalgia hit me.I had a T in 80 or 81 and my wife hated that car.Thats the reason I finally got rid off it. It was in the Omaha paper one Sunday and I looked at it. It seems it was built by a local car dealers son ,left at the dealership when he went to college, years later donated to the Shriners. Several Shriners p***ed it around as none wanted to store it and clean it all the time.It had br*** rad. headlights, front was all chrome,SBC and a chrome case 4 speed and 55-57 rear that was chrome also . Some coffin style ****on tuffed rounded it all out. It wouldn't start because of the battery, tires low and flat. They wanted some outragueous price but I left an offer. About two weeks later I was in the area and stopped to check on it. The guy that was selling it was gone but his wife said it was still there ,that only one person had made an offer so she wasn't sure what they were going to do. I made arrangements to meet with some of the Motor Patrol members and convinced them that I was being real in my offer,as no-one else had made one. About two weeks later they told me to come get the car. I was really surprised as it had all new rubber ,a new battery ,tune up stuff, belts and hoses. The guy apologized that the car was barely running ,it needed a new carb. He knocked $210 off my offer so I could buy a carb. Later I found out they thought it would sell better if it was cleaned and running so they took it to someones shop and put the tires ,tune-up and stuff on it. The needle and seat was leaking by and so I fixed it in their driveway. I felt like a King in my $1650 tee, bucket. Later sold it for over twice that. Those things don't happen often, not often enough anyway. thanks for reading
Well, we've all heard the old saying: "if it has ***s or tires you're gonna have trouble..." Well, I can only fix tires so there's your answer from me...
the only thing i see dumb is you sold it and kept the wife.lol i quess im lucky my wife has never told me i could or couldnt do something. in 33 yrs together i have built hotrods muscle cars, streetrods and choppers and she only wants to drive them or ride the bikes but i cant seem to get her to help me build them. oh well.......
Middle of June 2011, Southwest Iowa was flooded, my house ,shop, underwear drawer and pics were under several feet of water. I am home-less ,car-less, tool-less ,and clueless.
Sorry to hear about that man. I drove through area this past June for a wedding in Omaha, not cool. Hope you get back on your feet soon. My dad went through the same thing with my mom over his little bucket. Apparently a buggy-sprung fibergl*** fad-t isn't very comfortable on long trips, especially when you're pregnant. He built a much more sensible 33 sedan after that. Years later, he ran into the new owner, and jokingly mentioned buying it back in front of my mom. I think she may have punched him just for bringing it up, I'm not sure.
