Thinking about going to one of the shows but I think I cannot make it in Jan so the 2012 Sacramento Autorama is an option to visit for us, Never been to both , What the Sacramento show like? ...hope to hear the good and less good.

certainly worth going, if you are in the area then. some of the rides from the GNRS are there. It is not as big of a venue so, not as many cars to look at. also, do not have the NHRA Museum to check out. but, usually have some special displays.

Thanks for the update, do a lot of visitors of the GN also visit the Sacr autorama or is his a complete different story. Reason asking we heard a lot and red a lot about the GN so maybe we have to skip this year and wait for the 2013 edition.

    Hi fiper,
Like Joker said, the venue is not as big as the GNRS however there are some amazing customs and rods at the Autorama. Here are a few of the award winners from earlier this year: http://www.rodshows.com/sa/2011-award-winners.html
And yes, some of the cars do appear at both shows. Hope to see you at the show!

Hi Rick, you maybe right, if I youtube both at the autorama I only see cars and the GN I see lots of people ...have to make up my mind ...guess next year ...w'll see its a lot of time and money to get down there

  7. Autorama is definitely worth doing. Is it equal to the GNRS? NO, but then No other show is like the GNRS. But that doesn't diminish the Sacramento show!

Sorry, I'm a little jaded....been attending the Autorama off & on for 35+ years, John Buck and Axle have vastly improved it the last couple of years. After the death of Don Tognotti, it had really turned to shit....it is well worth seeing again.:)

wow that is impressive, Were thinking about entering our projects to one of the shows but even the autorama is a short call as both are at the paint shop ( and that is a slow process, nothing compared to these shows where they do complete cars in 7 days ) w'ell see how things will progress and if we have the time to put things together on time..otherwise next year Here a picture of my sons scooter for the kids competition. Not to start a drama thread but... I would agree except Autorama still gets treated like a Redheaded step child compared to GNRS. Why the history room was at GNRS and not at Autorama is beyond me? Considering it was Sacramentos 60th anniversary it should have been there. I go to both I like both Im glad that Butch Gardner is back putting on the club room again. If you come down from BC to Autorama pm me your contact info

For sure we cannot make the GN but we will do our best to get the truck ready for the Autorama , hope the creativity will be better judged than the shoe polish LOL
    Keep you posted

  19. I like both but very diffrent shows. LA is much bigger much more folks walking around and the parking lot is a show all its own. but that said I have gone to both and like the Sac town show also the people make the show there the locals are nice and the city opens its arms to the venders.

Guess they are both worth going each with it's own character, We will have to work hard to make it there and meet some of you guys.
It would be a great experience to be there as we heard so much about these shows when we still lived in Amsterdam Europe (now since 2001 BC Canada)
Looking forward to make it down there and meet. but 9 weeks to finish it ...wow

I agree with studhud and the Autorama has been getting smaller over the years, last year the Pavillion wasn't even used. Having the Clubroom come back will be a great boost to the Autorama.
