I would like to put some tubeless tires on my 1938 Dodge coupe. The 16" wheels are tube type.Do these wheels have to be sealed first?

The reason the wheels are tube type is because they do not have a safety bead on the inside and if the tire goes flat, they will come right off the wheel. You can have your original wheel centers cut out and welded into some newer 16" outers and run tubeless no problem. Companys like Rally America (wheelkid here on the H.A.M.B.) do these conversions all day long!
p.s. you can run tubes in a tubeless tire as long as you use a radial tube (KR-16), I like to use a little baby powder in the tire before I install the tube.
