Trad Rod or Way too much time on your hands

I went junking today and remembered my camera so took pictures of this old rod. I guess this is a traditional rod, it was built in the 50 's. It may look crazy, but I've seen another one built just about like it.

 

I've toyed with the idea of building my own roadster body, but... No.

 

way to much time on that guys hands and not the right vision in his head

 

By the firewall and grille surround, that is/was a 49 or 50 ford. Ugly but cool as hell.

 

My guess is that it was laughed at then too.

 

Saw stuff like that out in the sand dunes at the coast back in the late 50s.

 

Ugly then is still ugly even after time goes by,but deps on your eye.

 

shoot me but thats the ugliest shoebox i have ever seen ...whats the story on the 60 pontiac wagon beside it?

 

I think its not too pretty but it was someones dream at one time.

 

just for the heck of it. i like it. i would change a few things, but overall. its got somethin goin on.

 

The traditional debate will go on but there's no denying ugly is traditional. Poor devil had a vision though

 

Agree, interesting how the top of the grill "bullet" got used as well ... early form of recycling ?

Red wheel'z 'n skull'z would bring it up to date. Did you find any survivors in this salvage yard?

 

i'd grab those head lights and that shoebox steering wheel.

 

That looks like the one in remson ia.
Guy wanted $$ for it.

 

Someone had too much time, no plan and no skills....

 

There is a reason that it is in a "Junk" yard!

I wouldn't be too critical of anybody unless you have walked in his shoes.

Always a good look with the front wheels set back 3 feet behind the grill and lites. They weren't all gems in the day.

 

I'm not sure, its a project car for sure! a big wagon would be good....it would hold more stuff than my model A!

the yard is in NW Iowa, not far from here

 

THAT is the rat rod ORACLE right there....

 

I just realized it has the outline of the name "Bad Bob" on the side. Now we know what Bad Bob rolled before he got his Merc!

 

This can't possibly be from the 50s, everyone knows all the 50s stuff was fabulous. Some guys here swear there was not anything like this on the streets back then, so this can't be real. Gene

 

My vote is too much hand time... and proof every generation has the guy with no taste. Here's one from our generation.

 

Now THIS guy just needs some sense "talked" into him...
