Looking to hook up with the owner of a '51 Merc last seen in Springfield, Ohio car show this year. The Merc has a Carson style top, dual stack head lights, '54 Packard tail lights and the color is PINK. Looking for the owners name etc. and any pictures of the car. A little help here would be cool. Thanks Butch............... I'm looking for some pictures, seems a pink car would stand out like a white guy at the Apollo Theater. Buddy Holly CRUISER

I searched several Ohio based car show photo sites with no luck so far. There must be somebody who went to the Clark County Humane Society's Carl Bobbitt Memorial Car Show Fund Raiser, June 12, 2011 in Springfield, OH and saw this pink 1951 Mercury!!!

They had that show in front of where I work, and I don't remember seeing that car. If its local, he doesn't bring it out much or I would have seen it.

That pink car has been around forever and was owned by Wendell Proffitt. It was wine colored and also dark grey/ black by 85. It was on several magazines in the early 80s. I last saw it in Springfield in 85. I am positive of what I speak. It started life as a coupe. The taillights were 56 Clipper that sat practically on top of the 51 Merc rear bumper and it had steel, needle nose bubbles.
The car is not a Barris car and the taillights were 56, not 54. There is absolutely no similarity other than the year and make. When the car was first dine, it was called the "good times" merc. I just found a pic of it in 83 on Riks site in the Kustomlincolnlady" section of his site.
The first scan is from a magazine, The Good Times version. The second pic is the rear shot of the car(I think). The last pic is the 2-tone gray version. How does OOMACK remember all this info? Sorry for the ****py scans. Click on the photo and it`ll enlarge.
LOL You remembered that shot in C***ic & Custom which is one of the shots I was thinking of. It was also featured in a rare French coffee table book that covered the Springfield Nats in 83.
Well, thanks everyone for the replies, turns out to be the wrong Merc. This happens when you follow rumors they don't always turn out well. The pictures say it all it was a long shot at best. CRUISER
Here`s a pic of him getting an award. Does this put a slowdown in the article being published. OOMACK-- That issue of Cl***ic and Custom must be at my dad`s. It`s amazing how much the cars styles change over the years.
