  5. Spent a great Valentines day with the old girl(car not the wife,lol)and got some of the patch panels that were replaced welded up and took advantage of the snow melting by spinning her around to concentrate on the drivers side.
    Pretty much the same work is needed on this side as the other so a new door skin cowl panel wheel well lower quarter patch and new frame rail will be installed.
    After all the panels are in and welded the body will be sent out to be sprayed to fill in all the pits and blemishes and sent back to us for the start of the bodywork.
    While the body is being sprayed the chassis will have the mounts for the flathead fab'd up and the 4"dropped forged axle and reversed eye spring installed,along with the finned drums/brakes and spindles installed.
    The rear will be getting a new spring,also to bring the ass down a bit as well as have a 39 banjo rear installed.
    Here are a few pics of the drivers side before having started;

  16. Sorry i've been away for a while but figured i'd post a quick update.
    Haven't had much time to work on the car but I did get a sweet 265V8 SBC for her last saturday from a fellow HAMBer which i'm pretty stoked about!The engine will be delivered tomorrow and I will try and get some pics up.
    The plan is to go with 2 2bbl carbs and keep her mostly stock.She should move down the road pretty nicely with the 170 or so HP from the stock motor.
    Planning on attending the Englistown swap on the 16th to gather some more parts and hopefully have more progress pics to post so don't bale on this thread,it's gonna get humming again soon.

  17. Well here she is,1956 original 265 V8.She looks suprisingly well for her age and will be cleaned and looking pretty in no time.
    I realize she won't strike too much fear at the stop light but I think she'll be just fine in the light weight roadster.Should be perfect for local cruising.
    Still have to finish up the bodywork then send out the body to be sprayed with filler and while she is getting fixed up,motor and frame will get the attention it needs.

    I'm pretty stoked about this motor,though.I love the early small blocks and a 50's theme ain't so bad,either.:D

    cool thread, im building a 28-29 roadster right now too. My uncle has an extra '56 265 out of his cameo sitting in the garage too, and the thought did cross my mind to build something around that one day too!

  21. There's a great thread on here about building a 265V8.Not sure if you saw it but you should check it out.

    Looks great so far, and the 265's a nice choice.

  24. Ok so I have been very neglectful keeping you guys posted on the work being done to the old Ford but other then gathering parts not much actual progress has been made.
    Life has a way of interfering with things at times.

    Anyway with the help of good friend and all around cool dude Pat Pryor we have started some actual work again.
    I'll let the pictures do the talking:

  25. As you can see we(Pat) finished up some of the welding replaced the rotted cowl panel on the drivers side and got the creative juices flowing again.
    Hopefully the momentum will continue and the updates will come faster then in the past.

    Seems like another weekend of welding and the body should be off to body/paint work and then the real fun begins!
    Going to weld in the boxing plates for the frame add the suspension goodies and adapt the juice brakes.
    Then swap out the rear, find a rebuild kit for the 56 chevy 3spd(help?) drop in the motor for mock up(actually will be done b4 body goes off to paint) and keep moving along.

  26. The project is looking good. I know what its like trying to get things done on the car. Seems like parts are easier to come by then the time to work on it. I plan to dive in to the body work on my roadster shortly...I hope!

    Looks pretty cool Bro!

  28. I have to admit that I probably shouldn't have started this build thread due to the fact that i'm real bad with updating but i've started so what the hell.
    The GREAT PAT PRYOR and I decided to take advantage of the spring like weather on sunday and get some more done on the ole 31.We welded the cowl sides set the doors mounted the tail lights and shared a few slices of pizza.
    We also cut the front wishbones and tacked in the wider end and assembled the front suspension.Freed up the 56 3spd trans after i so flawlessly(somebodys gotta pat me on the back,it might as well be me)took all the rust away and painted her up.
    We should have another day or so of welding and tweeking and then the body will be ready to send of to be massaged and painted.

    Next comes the frame boxing and assembly of all the suspension goodies.
    Hope you guys like the pics;
