429 Offenhauser intake port?

I purchased a 54 f100 with with a rebuilt 429. It came with a new Offenhauser intake with a weird port on the p***enger side. Does anyone know what this port if for? I ***ume I can just block it off.

 

Choke hot air supply.
Block it off....

Thats what I was hoping. I ***ume I can just make a simple plate with a gasket and block it off.
