I got this 16"-4.5 with a 5-5.5 bolt circle rim from a older gentleman but it does not look like any other early Ford solid rims like I had. It has clips riveted on to hold the hubcaps. All the other solid rims I have I think are Kelsey Hays but I cant find any markings on it. any Idea what its off?

IHC Scout? Jeep? Hudson used that bolt pattern in the '40's, too, I think. Lots of possibilities!

You cant see in the pics but there is a lip i the center section 1.5" at where the hubcap would fit.

I have the same rims on my 51 Chevy truck and Chevy cars from the late 30s to late 40s also used the same rims. I think 1949 is when Chevy switch to 15 inch rims for cars and 1955 for trucks.

Your chevy's did not come with a 5x5.5 bolt pattern!!

It's probably jeep or international wheel.

NOT a Hudson wheel coin, as Hudson used a 5-on-4-1/2" bolt pattern from the early '30s to the end, same as Ford, Mopar, Studebaker, and Nash.

    It's possible you have a Dodge/Fargo coin from 1941 - 1954 from a five-lug 4x4. Some, but not all, of the 4x4 trucks used a different 5-lug pattern than the 4x2 trucks.

How big is the register, or center, hole? Actually, what you have there is a "coin", which is the center portion of the wheel ***embly. The "rim" attaches to the "coin", which makes the "wheel ***embly".

Trailer wheel perhaps? Streamlite and other manufacturers used 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.

I misread it. I thought it said 5.5 by 6. The 16 inch Chevy rims are 6 lug. Sorry about that. At least you know it's not a Chevy rim. But could it be GM because it aside from the lug pattern, it looks just like the rims on my truck.

Not Chrysler. The early Chryslers, and Imperial through 1972 used a 5-on-5" pattern

I looked at quite a few other threads and I think your right Mangus B. But there is no mention about the lip or step in the center section of the rim. any info on that?

Here are more pics. The I.d. hub hole measures 3.5 and the center section measures at 13.5

It's an early '40's Lincoln wheel. Instead of the little nubs that held the cap on like the Ford/Merc., it had the little clips that held the cap on. Otherwise, it should be pretty much the same. Hard to tell by the pic's, but if the center dia. has two straight sides rather than one straight and one sloped, it may be a 1940 one year only...

I always categorized a rim and tire as a wheel. The two make a finished part as the factory would put it. sorry.

Are there any pics of a painted Lincoln wheel from the 40's that shows the step or lip in the center section here on the H.A.M.B.?

I think it's the old flat fender jeep rim, they sure look like it and were that size.

Definately 40 Lincoln I have some. A Ford cap will fit but not real tight.

Thanks Chopt Top Kid for that link! And thanks for the info Royalshifter for that tidbit, that was my next question about the hubcap. Thats all I need is to lose a ford hubcap down the road. looks like I might just use it for a spare wheel. Thanks for all the input fellas!
