Looking good. Fun thread to follow.

From a design standpoint given proximity to roof, diagonal scoop line should echo chopped flowing "C" pillar profile as closely as possible.

Thanks for the pics roger. going a little different route then you did on your scoops.

thanks south. we opted away from matching the roofline and are gonna go with a fairly straight scoop.

gator i will let ya know if we need some small odds and ends. and man is nashville fun.i dont know how you guys get any work done there i would be in the honky tonks all damn day.

well we were in a spot of hammering out details on the window and scoops i went after some rust and dents

Killer Flop!!! Yeah Cadillac used a lot of lead for all the seams, not that it's bad just saying. The 61 has so much lead it's incredible. The body panels are only spot welded in the rear and filled with lead.... interesting?!?!?!

Flop, what are you using to show you the low spots? It looks like you went at it with a disc sander? Details, please!
(And a compliment: fantastic attention to detail. Really nice work.)

amazing metal work. i appreciate seeing correct metal work. my vote is for this window also. makes it look classy from behind and the side profile of your filler piece is dead on. im loving this build.

    thanks bob

yeah this one is covered in it ian. the 61 ford i put a quarter on also was covered in it on the seam.

    thanks mats!!

atomic i use a low rpm sander with a 6 inch disc. to show the low spots thats just surface rust showing . but if the panel is clean i just go 2 different directions and you can see the low spots by the different sand patterns or if im feeling energetic i will run a vixen file over the panel haha

finally seeing it all come together ted!!

thanks johnny! thats the one we are gonna use !

started on the wheel lip rust . couldnt finish the big one because i couldnt get my brake to make a brake then have a quarter inch then brake again for the inner panel.had to take it to a local hvac shop it should be done tomorrow

    patch

welded in and ground and worked over

Thanks, Flop. I think I have one of those sanders sitting in my garage and I never really found a use for it until now.
By the way, I also vote for rear window #2. Looks the most correct.

Putty colour and black with larger black wires and blackwalls (gasp!). Whitewalls looked a little odd to me.

    thanks desert

mr james d... its possible but i think i might actually need the quarter so it isnt a federal case.. has the possibility of getting ugly fast there .

talk about a mess. dents . a big hit came from underneath some how . rust .a huge oil can.. you name it . pulled out the big dents then cut the mess out

cut out the inner as well.

rolled this out on the english wheel today . it was way easier to make the patch bigger then fight the dents and oil can .

all tacked in ready to get welded in tomorrow!!! it was nice the edges by the skirt and the rear were not rotted out so i had something to work with because the way it slopes up towards the back

cut a huge hole in the side of teds car today

put some metal through the english wheel and this is what came out

put a break and the bottom and now you have a quarter skin!

and now you have scoops in your quarters!!

cant get enough of the scoop really help the car out in my opinion

tons more work to go thought to get em right. have to close them off from the inside of the quarter and decide if any chrome spears or expanded stainless will be going inside

all in all a good days work!!
