Hi, I am buiding a 34 ford and looking at buying a set of reproduction fenders. My question is are the higher priced fenders (ie SAR) better than the cheaper one I see on e-bay. Any comments would be very much appreciated. Cheers Danny
I've used the SAR ones twice. They are good, but be prepared to work them as well. Body lines aren't real straight, and I had to section one to fit the running boards. I have no firsthand experience of the eBay ones, but wouldn't expect much.
SAR fenders aren't perfect, but are a world of difference when compared to other repops: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=636953
It's a case of "You may not get what you pay for, but you will pay for what you get." The SAR fenders aren't quite perfect, but the rest of what is out there is just a little bit more than enough sheet metal to make a fender out of.
Thanks Guys, has put my mind at ease. Car is a 3W stock height, will run y-block with tripples, banjo rear with 9" axles and black 40 year old paint job (the hardest part is to paint the new fenders and make it look 40 years old. Regards Danny
