WOW!!!Thank you all sooo much for your help. This is why I love it here. I don't live with them I live with my Mom and Grandma, but when the car was bought my Mom couldn't afford to buy it, my uncle wanted it because he figured it would be gotten then used as like a show car, I wanted to daily drive it from the get go, and I must add, the car would be in much better condition engine wise, had my uncle or aunt driven it like once a week or something to get the fluids going, because I just turned 16 last september, and by then it wasn't working right, so I couldn't take it out every week, but when it was bought it ran just fine. Also my uncle had it changed to a twist on oil filter instead of the toilet paper one that was on there, cost = 180.00, I never asked him to do that, that coulda saved him 180.00 right there. Back to the living with them, I have a close family, it was never lets go visit your Aunt and Uncle, I see them all the time, same with my Grandma.

Katatonic Mike- Thats a good idea, I don't know how well any model a or t coupes will fit inside the back of a explorer, UNTILL Chopped

Flathead Youngin'- I am going to try to explain myself to them, and if it gets sold, I will just keep a hold of the vin number and contact info for whoever sold it, that way one day I can hopefully track it down and get back into it.

    Blaze- I hear ya!!!

Lucky Burton- I think I would keep it in remembrance.

hotrod54chevy- I mainly just wanted everyone's opinions and help with it, there is no doubt I love my car to bits, I also love hotrods, I would love to have a hot rod, I just don't think that I should have to sell my car to get one.

Mojo- seriously, I can actually see the engine in the Ford, my Mom opens her hood up and its like a cover over the engine.

TINGLER- Ill try to explain that to them.

shoebox72- I think I am going to be looking for a job soon.

stressed_out- I know, it just really rubbed me the wrong way, I just have gotten attached to the car after seeing it every day for the past 2 years and then they just wanna take it from me.

TIKIFREAK13- Mom put that good head on my shoulders, I chose where to go and stuff, ITT tech for an engineering degree, I want to be an imagineer at Disney.

Darby- I think after it was dove into somewhat, it was worth a little less than 8500.

Petejoe- I am pretty lucky to have been given a car at my age.

skumbag- 56 chevy was the first car I wanted until the price was given on how much they usually are.

ChuckleHead_Al- my dream 50s truck is a 56 chevy big window, my dad had one, he drove that thing around using a 5 gallon bucket as his seat, I have never seen the car of his, I have seen pics of others though, I love that big window.

TINGLER- I am very much so inexperienced.

DrJ- HAHAA, it took me a minute to get that, but it was funny.

Fender- awesome, if I am ever in Detroit, Ill definately take you up on that offer.

Thanks Again Everyone, As I said before I really Appreciate all of your help.

I agree. If they can sell it, it's not your car. Go join the Navy and make some money and get your own car.

you should let them know how much you like the car and you want to keep it and fix it up yourself. If you show them your gonna do that maybe pay them off for buying it you'll get to keep it.It doesnt hurt to try. What are they gonna say no big deal.

You've had the car for 3 years and haven't done ANYTHING to it??!! No wonder they want to get rid of it! Is it even driveable?

Where do you live that you're so worried about vandalism?

You can make it as reliable and cheaper than a modern car.

I guess it isn't mine huh?

Ill try and tell them how I want to keep it and how I feel about it.

Haven't done anything, I actually plan on keeping this one stock and stuff, but every car I own after this is fair game. I just want this one as a stock one because it was restored (to a point) when it was bought and I remember the ride in it the first night and stuff.

Haha, Very true comment about motorcycles 2xcrash, they are cheap to own, Im sure they are easy on gas, and you can park them easily, but my mom would NEVER let me have one as the first form of transportation that I drive.

GOOD NEWS!!!!, I guess my uncle was just suggesting it when he told me, although it didn't sound like a suggestion, I am going to keep the car, also get a job, save money buy a "newer car" probably just for until my car is finished, and also save for a hot rod.

Good deal. Make sure to tell them how much you appreciate it, and work this summer to buy a beater. Also, see if you can get your hands on a camera and post some pics of the '55. I traded for a '55 Fairlane two door hardtop a couple weeks ago and I'd like to see the car that all the drama was about. If it's a Crown Victoria I'll die of jealousy.

Thanks For the compliment on my car, I am def. going to work and just fix my 55 up then, start driving it daily. Also I forgot to answer a question asked by hellfish, I live in Henderson, Nevada, I hear of not too much crime around where I go, So I personally am not worried at all about vandalism on it, plus if it is, theres always the hunt em down method of payback right?

That sounds like a plan. Pay them back and get the title in your name. Then join the Navy, make some money, and have a good time! :D

From what I've read here I think you've got a great family and should be happy for their help and assistance. Sounds like you are, so take that as affirmation, not a lecture.

My baby is 16, so I've got a few years on you. I remember a ride I took at about 13 in my grandfather's old Chevy truck. I've loved those trucks ever since and almost cried when at 17 he told me he'd sold it. I've often wished I could have that truck back today. I understand your attachment to the car. I'm glad you'll be able to keep it!

I had to drive my 56 as a daily driver for 2 years. Put close to 30K miles on it at that time. At the end of the 2 years, my worst problem is my powerglide tranny went out. That was the only big thing. SO I replaced the motor/tranny with a rebuilt 265pp/th350. I'd be still driving it today full time if the wife didn't talk me into buying a second vehicle for me... 01 S-10. Still, I'll jump in it and drive it where ever I want to go. For about a year, the 56 was our only car, not too bad for an old beast aye ;)

My daily is a '55 GMC Suburban. My alternate is a '72 Chevy pickup. I've long figured if you're going to drive something old everyday, it makes sense to have a backup...

In years past I've ended up giving up on an old car because when it had a problem I had no choice but to drop everything else, and fix it. Today the '72 is broken, or more accurately, not put back together yet after the broken driveline support bearing failed.

With two I still need to keep after any problems, but if it takes a week or two or six to fix something I've still got wheels.

  21. My daily driver is a '59 Ford drag car with a 429. Everyone tells me to get a newer car that'll cost less on gas (school transportation also). I would'nt be caught dead in a newer car! I'd rather spend that extra money on another carb! Dont let 'em sell your car. Sure a newer car might save money on gas, but it will have just as many problems and just be a piece of crap however you look at it. If you cant convince 'em to keep it, take that '55 and hide it somewhere where they cant find it!:D
