At first I thought it was in the states. I grew going to the Thee Individauls Summer car shows here in Fresno. Alot of people came from LA, San Jose back then. It brought alot of money to the city and the cruisings was insane back then. It was back in the 80's. It's cool to see that people are enjoying car culture that was a hugh part of me growing up in Fresno.

lowriders are traditional. when is a bomb not traditional. sure some of these rides are newer than the HAMB cut off.. but they are still traditional to their style..

plus plenty of other cool customs and hotrods in the video

    thanks for sharing..

Ive seen all of their videos. I bet its not cheap to build cars like that over there.

I'm so tired of narrowed minded people on here

now I know where all the 49 mercs are going. We are just caretakers anyway, and the rides are getting love.

The video was AWESOME! The scene in Japan is AWESOME! The Japanese saved MOONEYES from being bull-dosed to the ground by American bankers who wanted to turn it into a strip-mall after Dean died. This is one thing I do not understand about the H.A.M.B. It's supposed to be a site dedicated to "Hot Rods of Traditional Design". You better not even say the word R** R**, or you will get handed your walking papers. Yet I see people posting pictures of gaudy T-Buckets all the time. I am not talking about cool Tommy Ivo style T-Buckets. I'm talking about huge tires, and nauseating hippie nightmare paint jobs... Where are the "Traditional Build Watch Dogs" for that crap!

The Japanese owned MOONEYES Corp. paid to have the The Burbank Choppers and their cars brought to Japan for a show! That is a pretty big investment, they are seriously into car culture!

as a former air force vet stationed in okinawa, they had some really nice stuff over there. when it came to anything powered by an american v8 or v twin, they went shit crazy for it. a lot of ot vehicles, but some older stuff tossed in as well. a couple i remember seeing fairly regularly was a 70 boss 302, 63 split window vette, 69 rs/ss convertible and countless harleys. a couple 57 chebbies as well.

hard to find parts for your pontiac chiefton? at least you dont have to import everything to work on your car. typical car inspection in japan besides lights horn and wipers was to put your car on a lift, take 2 foot long screwdriver and start poking floors to see if it went thru. not a gentle poking, but a grab it with both hands and really jab at it. poke thru the floor? fail. brake lines? same procedure but with pliers. clamp a brake line and jiggle furiously. break? fail.

as far as traditional goes, they work with what they have available and enjoy it just like we do.

They get it. I dig the low riders as much as the rods and customs.

Great video, sounds, girls and cars.

I've watched it a couple of times now. I just showed it to a couple of my kids without shooing them the title. They didn't even catch it was from Japan.

You are absolutely right! I stand corrected and edited my rant!

  18. Reading through your previous posts show that most of your input is about the same as the comment you made here. Useless and a waste of band width. Too bad you have such a short attention span that you didn't see the rest of the video as you might have found out what all of us have known for years. The Japanese have some of the most killer traditional rods built on the planet................ (deleted the rest of what I posted as I don't need to write what everyone else thinks about your comment.)
    Have a nice day.

A friend of mine is stationed over there. Had his 32 shipped over and had it chopped over there. They really appreciate our old iron over there.

They make us look silly. They build cars with pride and soul. Something that we should respect.

With the expense and logistical problems of getting a US car shipped to and then registered in Japan, I gotta give them respect.

I've been to Okinawa several times, and there is a purple Monte Carlo on Daytons sitting under a carport outside Naha City, right on the main drag.
