How can you tell the differents from a real 1932 Ford car grill from a 32,33 or 34 Pickup grill or are they the same?
    Thanks

The '32 commercial grill shell is a one piece and is nothing like the 33,34 commercial shells and there is a difference in them also.

    A p***enger '32 shell has a removable insert.

The shell on the left is a p***enger shell,,the one on the right is a '32 Commercial.HRP

    Thanks

The 32 P***enger Car radiator shell has a chromed die-cast top ornament that surrounds the radiator neck hole up top and drops down to the hold the Ford oval badge just above the grille opening. The grille is removeable.

The 32 Commercial grille is a one-piece radiator shell/grille. There is a stamped rib running down from the radiator neck opening to a raised bead oval where the Ford badge mounts.

The 33 Commercial grille is also a one-piece radiator shell/grille. It is thicker than the 32 grille and has a beaded stamped oval above the grille bars where the Ford badge mounts. V8models have the same V8 emblem as the 33 p***enger cars mounted to the grille bars.

The 34 Commercial grille is a one-piece radiator shell/grille also. It is thicker than the 32 or 33 units and has a chromed die-cast ornament that runs from the scuptured radiator cap down to hold the Ford oval badge. There is a stainless trim ring around the grille bars which mounts to the shell with wire clips. V8 models have the same V8 emblem as the 33 p***enger car.

The opening on a commercial is flatter across the top. In the '70's a friend decided to make his commercial a p***enger shell. He torched out all the bars!!! He then found out the openings are quite different. He could have found this out by just laying the p*** grill on the commercial shell before the hot work.

The others have pretty well covered the differences, here's a pic of my roadster with a '32 commercial with '34 trim added, vs a filled '32 p***enger repop.....should give you a visual on the opening shape differences described above.

So looks like it don't look too bad to put a commercial grill on in place of a $300 p***enger grill.

A good commercial Deuce shell is getting hard to find nowadays but a $300 p***enger shells are almost extinct. HRP

This is kind of funny. The days of a $300 '32 grille are long gone.

A commercial grille will actually cost more than the p***enger grille in the same condition. Have you tried to find a nice commercial grille? They ALL rust out at the bottom where the inner pan is welded to the outer edge. If you can find a nice commercial grille for anywhere near $300, GRAB IT!

Not to forget, the 33-34 truck grilles lay back a little, they aren't mouted vertically like the 32. Gary

X2. 32 commercial grilles have never been reproduced and are in great demand by restorers. Around here a clean commerical is very hard to find and brings a lot more money than a p***enger shell and insert.

I turned a fellow Fordbarner onto my friends 32' NOS commercial shell less than a year ago. Yes NOS never mounted still in the factory primer. He happily paid 1k for it and couldn't of been happier.

Can anyone tell me what year this grill is? I ran across this post when researching grills for an upcoming project.
