    I agree.

Burny, looks good. How big are those rear tires?

  2. This is chopped 4" in back and about 4.5 in front it had to get 1 5/16 longer.

Not sure how much, but it looks good................but I would like it the same unchopped.

  4. For the chop I think something real subtle is a nice change of pace. Of course I am an idiot.

As for the whels thing I am more interested in what type of pomade is best, wheels don't mean a thing unless you have the perfect pomp.

    Burny
You truck is just about perfect in my eyes. When I was a lot younger there was a hemi powered truck in San Mateo built along the same lines as yours. Very fine looking truck.

  5. Zero, if you are running fenders IMO if you want to maintain the proportions and head room. You'll play hell trying to get that 6'+ frame of yours into something lower and have a crick in your neck after 15 minutes of driving.

Sam, I drive my dad's quite a bit and it's chopped 4", but I tend to lean towards the lesser.

Bruce, that is along the lines I am talking about. That looks dang near perfect.

    I'm biased but....

Also, I've shortened the WB by 2 inches. I'm going to shorten the bed a similar amount but close up some of the cab to bed distance....so maybe only a vertical inch from the front half of the bed. Also, the rear of the bed ('37) will be shortened 4 inches to match the length of a '35 or '36 bed (Root pointed that out to me a couple of years back).

2-3" is just about as good as it gets. Too much chop looks cartoonish and out of proportion. I don't care if the driver's 6'6 or 5'6, getting the balance of hgt and length is where it's at. How much was taken out of Winfield's truck? I'm doing 3" on an AD to avoid quartering the roof. I have it all laid out but haven't put the saw to it yet. It probably won't see sparks for a year or more. FWIW, I'd match the overall rake of the windshield to the rake of the grill, or vice verse...

  9. I think that the more you do the more you need to do. If you chop too much then you need to section to get away from the body looking too think, if you section you should probably also shorten it up a little so it doesn't get the waffle look. Having too heavy a hand is a very vicious creature.

Any more info on this truck? I like the way everything is well done and super sanitary.

  12. Unfortunately no. Sorry. It stopped me in my tracks and the owner happened to be sitting there. I asked him how much it was chopped, told him it was perfect, and went on my way.

I think that grey truck is the one with the '40 dash and column in matching body color. Looks super nice. I'd love to see it in person.

I'd chop it 1" for three reasons...

    1. To piss off any limp dick purist that might ever want to restore it.

    2. To make the Hot Rodders wonder "What the hell is different about it"

    3. Because they were so close to perfect to begin with.

Since that also wasn't an option, I figured I'd explain.

That DOES look damn good. Is it too late for me to change my mind?

Mine is 5 inches. It's already done, so not a big choice there for me. It doesn't make my neck hurt - as the seat base is sectioned - I am 6ft 3. Someday it'll be shiny, but drivin' it for now. :)

If yer really stressin' over this, make it a roadster with a removable hardtop. Hmmm which do i like best blondes, brunettes, or redheads? They all look good to me

Mine is chopped 5" but its a F'n ___ rod that I've been trying to turn into something better. I'm 6' 3" or so and I fit in mine fine but my cabs been stretched and it has bucket seats bolted to the floor with no seat riser except for the stock mustang sliders that the seats came out of. If these trucks weren't so hard to find I'd just take the cab loose, shorten it back up to a reg cab proportions and put the fenders back on. but since I don't have any of the stuff to do that with I'm going to make due and just build a better looking "Rudy truck" as everyone calls it. I think 3" would probably be best for a fendered truck if you like to change it up transmittion wise everyonce in a while I.E... 4speed manual to automatic or auto to stick. That way you have plenty of room.

I just wish I could find a 35-36 truck windshield frame for mine and the upper dash rail.

If it's got fenders less chop, no fenders chop it till it fills good.
