Friend has a small block Ford crate motor purchased from Ford Racing back in July 02 - part number M6007A52. The harmonic balancer is clunky and we want to replace it. Apparently there are two balancers, one at 50 ounces and another at 28.2 ounces. I can't find proof of which one is correct for the motor. Tried calling Ford, no help. Any ideas? Thanks!
Is it a roller cam motor, if so it is a 50oz, unless it is a stroker. Some of those used a 28 oz. There should be a part number stamped on the damper too. Don
Gotta be a 50 oz. I didn't thing Ford ever made a 28 oz imbalance crate motor. but as Don said, the number on the balancer will tell the story, AND, their website should have data on the engine. I've bought two Ford crate engines, around 2002 and again in 05-06, both roller motors and both 50 oz, and both set up for serpentine belts (reverse flow water pump).
Thanks! I'll go back and check a few things...I did check the website first, they dont detail the crate specs for balancer.
