I was planning on installing a nice 327 SBC I have in my '36 Ford 3-window, but came across an opportunity (haven't bought it yet) to get a '63 401 running Nailhead. I'd like to hear from someone who's done a similar engine swap to see if they ran into any particular problems or obstacles with the swap. I'll be putting an A833 3-speed w/ OD behind it, and using a Ch***is Eng. trans mission mount for a SBC that I alread bought and will have to probably modify to fit the Buick. I have a '40 Ford steering box in it. Hopefiully, I won't have to cut the firewall, but.......

Thanks for any 'head's up' you could let me know about.

    from somewhere

we're planning on using a 425. Have a 401 thats clean clean clean but opted to go big or go home. I hear that clearing the steering can be tricky but it will work if you make a gameplan.

Damn! I was afraid of that. I love the firewalls on the mid-30's Ford, but, if it's gotta be cut......

Wouldn't happen to have any pics showing one cut up for a nailhead or how much it'd have to be cut, would you?

    Thanks,

I think I read on hamb that a 36 big truck firewall is recessed more, so that person used one? I don't know.

1935/36 Truck firewall gains you roughly 3" or so/ compared to the 35/36 car firewall.
I stole the idea/knowledge from some friends cars, but I hear its an old trick thats been done for along time?
