I am 25 years old and this is my first hot rod project, I bought this car a year ago on ebay and can easily say learned my lesson about buying projects on ebay. But none the less to say it was rough is an understatement but it is slowly taking shape. Put new Bob Drake quarters on it, new tailpan and trunk floor. Bought a new frame from Lobecks in Cleveland and now finally have the money to build up the chasis so i can switch over the body to the frame i will use so i can finish the sheet metal work. Heres some pictures of last year and will be sending some more of the current progress

You've come along well with that. I can appreciate what it takes to make something out of nothing.

Wow! I commend you for jumping in there to save a '40 Coupe that many folks would have walked away from. Thankfully there are tons of repro parts available for them. That Lobeck frame should work out great. He certainly knew how to get a hot rod to sit right. Good continued luck with an awesome project. Keep the progress photos coming...............Don.

Looking good! I'm envious of your 1/4s. :D

  10. Your doing a great job on the coupe, but looking at those "Before" pics.....how can you fault Ebay with this quote " can easily say learned my lesson about buying projects on ebay." Those pics tell the story pretty well. (unless you mean not seeing it in person first)

Needless to say, I really commend you for taking that coupe project on. I don't think I would have done it....Until recently, I couldn't get my *** going on a solid Coupe...LOL. Continued Good Luck with your build...I'm more inspired now as well.

You are doing a great job. Keep it up. Most of us old guys learned on similar projects. I couldn't afford a nice car. You will learn so much more by fixing it yourself than by buying a nice car. You will know your car inside and out.

If you get discouraged just post current pictures for more encouragement. We love it so far.

VERY nice save of a great Ford body that probably would have ended up as s****. Your workmanship looks professional, and will result in a very nice '40. Congrats!

hang in there and keep looking forward. I started a coupe with with nothing more than a shell and bare frame, took several years and lots of patience but in the end it was worth it all. they are without a doubt IMO the best looking Ford ever. They look fast even when standing still! Good luck!

With Bob Drake making skins now, could make the build easier should you go that route. Great progress so far. Keep it up!
