I don't think there is a single page in his thread without one of you holding up or simulating a faux johnson or doing something to another buddy, now no clothes at all. You guys need to find some women or close the shop for a few days and get you satisfaction:confused:

Other than that please keep the great fab, hot rod and custom pics coming:)

  14. Hey Guys, photobucket is working today, so here is the update from last night.
We were feeling a little nostalgic last night, so we all met at the New West for supper. Meatloaf was the special, and it actually wasn't that bad.
Back at the shop Fat Dave and Charlie teamed up on the roadster. Last weekend I painted the headlight buckets and dash panel, so they started ***embling it again.

Cory and Dave teamed up again and tackled the back panel on the thunderbird. The piece their making is completely removable like the front cowl vent. This way if the back window ever gets broken, it can be replaced with out cutting the car apart to get it out again.

Johnny and I continued on with the front gl***.

    Wanna get high?

We took the gl*** back out to take care of the gap we had at the bottom of the gl***.

Dave learned why a garbage can should not be used as a welding table...

Here are the new pieces made for the A pillar

    Brownies anyone?

With the windshield fitting nice, Johnny and I moved on to the stainless.

  16. So far the only piece that needs to be welded is the windshield trim for the A pillar. Everything else was just cut along the bottom.

    Headlights back on

After the headlights were done, Charlie sat down and made a wiring schematic for the roadster.

Dave and Cory still cutting away
    [IMG]

And yea, thats about all. Doesn't seem like a lot got done, but in fact a lot was. It's one step closer....

Dave seems to do the most welding. Is he the most skilled welder a**** you guys? Where did he get his skills? As far as I know, Lee is the only one that makes a living doing this kind of work. I think you've mentioned Johnny's occupation but no one else's.

  22. Both Dave and I do most of the welding. Dave and I are about the same when it comes to welding skills. Although he is way better at aluminum than I am.
Johnny is by far the worst welder haha:D
As for occupations, Dave is a journeyman Mill Wright now, however he used to work in the hot rod industry for a number of years. In fact we even worked at the same shop for a while. It was fun working with Dave haha.

Johnny is the manager of the 109st Long & Mcquade music store. He's worked for Long & McQuade for 12 years now.

Charlie works at AMS Engines. They build racing engines. 3 of his engines were at the Hot Rod Reunion this year, all in the pro cl***es. One them was number 2 qualifier for the Pro 7.0 cl*** with a 7:02et. Another engine of his was in the Pro 7.0 cl*** but did not qualify due to a 6.95 et:D
Charlie also crews on the Mageau Family Racing Nitro funny car. He knows his **** when it comes to going fast.

Fat Dave worked with me at LG Kustoms for 2 years, but just left this fall to go work for Long & McQuade. Southside store.

And yea, I own and operate LG Kustoms & Hotrods, the shop the Clutch Poppers hang out at every Wednesday, and most Saturdays and Sundays also. I'm a second generation hot rodder, and have being building cars professionally for almost 11 years now. I worked in race car shops and high end street rod shops most of my life. In 2006 I went to Bakersfield Ca and was hired on by Squeek Bell at Kiwi Konnection. Squeek and Gary Maxwell showed me the ropes with hot rod ch***is fab (prior to this my only ch***is experience was race car stuff, mostly drag race). I worked with Squeek and Gary for 1 year, then moved up to the desert and worked with Gene Winfield for a few months before coming back to Canada and starting LG Kustoms & Hotrods. In the early days of LG Kustoms it was just a part time deal, and I worked at the Canadian So-Cal Speed Shop part time. In 2008 So-Cal did not want me to work part time anymore. Said full time or your fired. I called their bluff, got fired :D and in the summer of 2008 LG Kustoms became my full time job. I moved in to the shop I'm in now in October 2008 and have been going strong since. About 80% of the cars I build are traditional styled hot rods and customs, however I do some restorations and some street rods also.

Lee, that was great background info and now I understand why most everyone is so capable in the shop.

Okay, so my curiosity got the best of me and I finally had to Google Map you guys. Just where the heck is Alberta a**** that Great White Northern Territory..otherwise know as Canada. Hmm. next to BC I see. So where is LG Kustoms? Ahh, in the North West portion on Edmonton? Is that you there? What're doing giving the finger to the satellite? Seriously, is your shop in the North West? It's kinda close to the countryside. I also noticed about Edmonton that there seems to be no suburbs, where the city ends it's just country.

That's about it! Edmonton's CFL football team is called the Eskimos if that gives you more of an idea how north Edmonton really is. Alberta is a great place to live, we have two real seasons cruisin' season and build season (when its too cold to cruise).

HAHA there are subburbs they are just small and blend right into the city. You have to remember we have fewer people in our entire country than you have in California. We have alot of open spaces up here.

  27. Yea the shop is in the northwest corner of the city. 5 minutes away is the wide open country.
Despite being so far north, Edmonton actually has a lot of hot rod and drag race history. The 50's 60's and 70's was a good time here.
At one time Edmontons "Jasper Avenue" was included in Hot Rod magazines top 10 best cruising streets. Current Director of NHRA, Graham Light, is from Edmonton. John Forces crew chief Bernie Fedderly is also an Edmonton drag race legend, along with Gordie Bonin and Terry Capp.
Stu Hillborn (of Hillborn injection fame) was born in Sylvan Lake Alberta (about an hour south of Edmonton) although he moved to California as a kid.
The 1979 drag racing flick, "Fast Company" was filmed at the famous Edmonton Speedway Park. Speedway closed down in 1982, but before that it was a hot spot for drag racing and was quite often graced with the company of drag racing legends such as Don Prudomme, Don Garlits and Shirley Muldowney. A new track was built in 1992, and I pretty much grew up there as a kid. In the early 2000's IHRA took it over and has turned it into a state of the art track. My Dad and I have been very active in Edmonton Drag Racing scene since 1995. We race a restored 1966 RCS front engine dragtser.
Both the March Meet and CHRR in Bakersfield usually have at least 9 or 10 cars from Edmonton competing in the pro cl***es.
Hell, even Chris Swenson, of Thee Inland Emperors has been to Edmonton :D

Our winters are long and harsh, but when summer comes around, there is quite a bit of hot rod activity going on.

Oh and we do have suburbs haha. Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, Spruce Grove, Stoney Plain, Devon, and Leduc all surround the city. There is plenty of HAMB members from every one of these suburbs.

  28. Lee, great description of our little part of the world - thanks for that. Oh, and I didn't know Hilborn was from Sylvan!

I may be the worst welder, but we still have yet to see Charlies welding, and Fat Dave's welding is none to pretty either. At least I'm trying.

If this is you John, then I would imagine your knowledge of music outpaces the other guys. We all have our strengths. Do you guys have tunes on Wed?

Lee, that was a great description and after I wrote that post I did a little more Googling around. I went to the Prince of Wales Hotel in 1999 during a northwest tour of America. So, to my surprise I have already visited your province/state/what ever you might call it. Believe it or not I thought I had visited BC instead. Go figure huh, durn Yankees:D
