I have a 1940 chevy special deluxe 4-door. I want to make it more of a daily driver so I got a 235 to replace the 216 and would like to change the gears in the differential. I also would like to warm-up the 235 a bit before I put in the car and plan to change it over to 12v.

First question - The only place I've found for parts is Patricks in AZ. I'm sure there are other place out there, I'm just not using the right key words in my search. What are some other places I could look for parts? Preferably closer to me (CT) but I'll take what ever is out there.

Second question - I have, more correctly bought and awaiting shipment of, a GMC 302. I'm planning on building it and putting it in the car and using the stock drivetrain. Are there any fit issues (engine/body) that I have to be concerned about? and any drivetrain issues (stronger engine/weaker drivetrain) that I have to be concered about?

I'm guessing you have the 9x37 (4.11:1) ratio now?

There was also a 11x41 (3.73:1) ratio available for 1940-1952 Chebbies which would lower your RPM's substantially. You should be able to pick up a set of these "High Speed" gears at a much lower cost than the 3.50's from Patricks. If you're going to be doing a lot of 60mph+ driving, then go for the 3.55's.
