bonnevile is in the same boat as the All American Soap Box Derby nascar is the problem the cars go fast and crash and the hillbillies love it! Hell speed channels wind tunnel is all nascar all the time getting them to spend 5 mins on drag racing or bonneville would be like pulling teeth at least corben bersen saw that the derby was in trouble and tried to help with his movie 25Hill
I don't think I would like to see a lot of publicicty, the people that are interested in it are there and word gets around to those who want to come. I saw that Discovery Channel doc on the salt a few years back, didn't do anything for me, didn't even show the human aspect of the "low buck" nobodies (like me) that still compete and do it for plessure not $.
"On Any Sunday" was by Bruce Brown, who also did "Endless Summer". "Dust to Glory" was by his son, Dana Brown. They are some great filmmakers who stay true to the underground sports. If a b'ville film were to be made, a do***entary would be far better than some produced for the m***es reality ****, and even though i enjoyed "Worlds fasted Indian" it was rather lifetime channely. I've never been to bonneville, but it has been a longtime dream of mine to do 200+ on the salt, I just hope the "great" government of ours doesnt screw it up before i get that chance!
I totally agree! every time i have the chance to watch speed it seems to ALWAYS.......ALWAYS be showing nascar or a nascar related show. pisses me off! its so ******* boring! i guess its good cause it makes me get out in the garage.
Legit, Thanks for that, the Browns, father and son. The producer I was talking to was impressed with Dana's Dust to Glory and wants to do something along that line. DW
I understand why alot of you don't want it to become too "trendy". I have only been to B'ville once (1999) as it's nearly 1500 miles 1 way for me to drive, and now the family vacations (few and far between) come first. I had an awesome time there, and people were so welcoming. I want to make it back there soon I hope, and I really want to make it back before it's too late.
