Hello all, it's Sunday afternoon after Billetproof Detroit and I am thrashed. After two 2am or later nights getting Roger's roadster on the road and a VERY LONG day at the show I am still stoked about it all. We turned away the guys who didn't get it, but so many of the mid-west guys know what the hell is up that the show was packed. The cars got even better this year! The turnout was killer (I don't have the exact numbers yet, but it was around 250) and the music was INCREDIBLE! I'll post the pics I took when I get home next week. We had 7 bands ranging from mellow surfy-blues (The Detours w/ the HAMB's Donzie) to the incredible bluegrass tunes of The Salt Miners, to the hard hitting ROCK of the Skeeming Nogoods and Speedball. Then there was the dirty country/trucker tunes from the two-piece Bob's Country Bunker (they came all the way from Youngstown, Ohio to play for beer) who spent the rest of the day taking in the sun and selling their merch. There was also world famous Snake Out with live hot chicks and flame throwers, YES FLAME THROWERS, on stage! Last but definitely not least was the Twistin' Tarantulas. They rocked the Friday night pre-party and ended Billetproof with a BANG! A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Roger and Tim from the Poor Boys for pulling off the best lineup of music around! I had people thanking me all day for bringing Billetproof to Michigan. The real thanks go out to everyone in Michigan who worked to make it happen and ESPECIALLY to EVERYONE who came out to the show. Without you guys there it's just an empty lot. YOU are the COOL! Big BIG thanks to all the guys in the Pecker Heads and Poor Boys Detroit for busting their asses to bring Billetproof to Michigan again. And to Boomer for having the faith and patience to try it out. When I get back I'll post pics of the award winners rides. Until then..if you weren't there, YOU FUCKED UP!
Kirk, Billetproof isn't the biggest but it certainly is the coolest show in Michigan. Thanks for the great day. Last year and again this year I didn't hear one complaint all day. It was the way car shows should be. Great people, both young and old, and cool cars. I can't wait til next year!
the only complain i've heard about the show was that EVERYONE got sunburned! one helluva show, looking forward to next year already.
Ya got a winner here, Kirk! Hard working crew, the Poor Boys and Peckerheads. Great music. Great array of cars and dynamite people to go with 'em. I loved the laid back, no pressure atmosphere and the built in friendships and access on account of the HAMB. This show can only grow and the skies the limit. My hats off to you and the Michigan crew that make it happen. Joel
Sounds like I fucked up... Glad it was a good turn out for you guy's.....Looked like fun, sorry I missed it
Awesome show! Great cars, people and so forth. The burnout contest was great. I didnt really meet any new folks, but did see some familiar faces. I can't wait until next year. Thanks for all of those who helped out and organized it, giving my girlfriend and I something to do all day Saturday. Thanks!
Billetproof sucks. Hahahahaha! Like Kirk said,if you missed it,you really missed out. It was sunny, hot, and dusty; perfect weather for painting and spectating. What more could you ask for ? OBVIOUSLY,the food and drink concessions were NOT run by the people from Cobo Hall. The cold drinks were COLD,and the hot food was hot. And the prices very reasonable. The way it should be.Other promoters take note. I have no idea how many people were there,no doubt there were a few I missed, and I didn't take one single picture all day. But everyone had fun,and we look forward to next year. The show is recieving good reviews on Ray's Pinstriping Board: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/pinstriperspage/
We had to leave early but got to say it was well worth the trip again this year. The organizers did a fantastic job. Got some good deals at the swap meet, couple of Tshirts and hundreds of pics if only I didn't forget to bring my camera. Lookin forward to your pics and especially to next years event... Many thanks....
Congratulations Kirk! Sorry I couldn't make it------knee deep in pre-show prep for Houston. Sounds like it was quite a success. I take it the shirts arrived??? Marcy
It was too hot, and I was too tired. Hopefully next year I'll be a little more sociable! Thanks anyway... awesome show, just like last year!
Maybe next year's show can be moved up say...11 months. I can see it now. BILLETPROOF 2006. JULY 3, 2005. BE THERE OR BE GAY. Thanks a ton Kirk, had a blast!
Yep, they made it and look great! I ate shit on the long sleeves though. Last year everone asked for long sleeves, then no one wanted any this year. It was about 300 degrees and 300% humidity though. So much for profit, eh? No biggie. I was able to cover my trip when it's all said and done and I had a blast!
Thank you KIRK! Without a doubt this is the best show I have ever been to. Figure 8 races were a BAWL as well! Thanks Hats off to All you guys, Boomer, Poorboys, Peckerheads... perfect.
the ole lady wanted a long sleeve but i spent all are money on all your other merch. We need a couple hoodies though!! let me know when you have some avail on the site. And another big Thanks to you and all the guys that put this together. I allready cant wait for next year
Well when it gets chilly and I'm wearing my long sleeve BilletProof T-shirt I don't want to hear any of you GMB whining cuz you didn't get one. Buy it now fools and put it away for September. Kirk! Thanks for putting on a rockn great time in the Motor City! Hats off to you, The PeckerHeads and The PoorBoys for all the hard work. Had about as much fun as one person should be allowed in a three day period. See ya on Friday in Indy.
I don't know what happened to the first post I did here;I guess it went into electronic purgatory or something. What can I say that hasn't been said already? A fantastic show on a great day seeing old friiends and making a few new ones.Wished I had gotten to see more of the show but I was looking down the end of a Mack all day. When I got home I found my camera right where I'd lost it;next to the computer! The good part is the pictures are forever burned into my synapses(at least the ones that aren't taking napses!). Thanks to Kirk once again and to all the people who made Billetproof '05 such a success. SEE YA NEXT TIME! Ray Smith
Good time, good music, cool cars. Thanks to everyone that gave a place like that to go. Lots of awesome, original cars.
How about a Billetproof soundtrack? I'd buy one or two. The Salt miner wer really good. The twisted Turantulas rocked the stage apart and Donzie's band Was also real good.
Yes, THANK YOU!!! What a kick ass show. The whole family enjoyed it. My kids went home and started pinstriping paper and themselves!
Kirk! looks taller on TV. I just got home. Drove a thousand miles so I could be at Billetproof---I'll be back next year. Poor Boys rule. Peckerheads rule. Roger and Tim should do a "Bonnaroo-Detroit" BEST assortment of music, people and the cars I WANNA see anywhere in the world.
