I would say Deuce of spades now its A newer movie 2010 but it tells you how the real story of A Greaser from the 50s fines his long lost love all because of one woman that purchased his old 1932 Deuce it 2010 and found A love letter when she was taking the Deuce apart and found all the history of the car and she went on A long trip to reunite johnny and his 32 Deuce and his girl friend its A must see for any 1950s lover.
james taylor as a "tuff guy" dose'nt work. remember, he sang "handyman". the chick was'ent hot either.
I can't believe all you old timers arent mentioning the older flicks! I saw one vote for "Hot Rod Girl", but what about all those old movies of that era? Even THEM! had some cool rods. And yes, there are other threads here in the forum that touch on this topic, but you have to admit, this is a fun topic!
Hard to choose, but here's mine: Two Lane- plotless wonder, but that Muncie whining in the in-car camera scenes was (and still is) sweet music to my ears. Was 8 when I first saw it. Graffiti- hooked me hard on the early Ford rods. Who didn't want to be Milner? The 58 Imp was nice, and the 55 was sweet. Pharaohs Merc was badass.
Now wait a minute here..........no one listed Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum???? What's up with that??
Of course I like the Hot Rod movie with the Willys too.......I'm partial to the motor they lifted out of the old mopar to repower the Willys with....and it's got the corny punk and his a** hole dad, and bad lawman to boot....pretty much covers all the bases....
Great car films, Two Lane blacktop from '71 wasn't a nostalgia film like American Graffiti and The Lords of Flatbush which came out all about the same time, followed by the weak coat-tailing adult film, High School Fantasies.. Grafitti remains the best IMO..
as someone approaching geezerhood, I can say that Vanishing Point really struck a chord when it came out. 2-Lane didn't, but it showed a segment of society that did exist, as it really was. ' scuse me, I gotta go change the jets!
I actually like Two Lane. Something about those long pan shots of the the '55 driving across the flat lands...
