Finally got around to registering on this forum after reading it as a guest for quite a while. Car is a 1948 Plymouth 4-door, 355 SBC, TH350, 8 3/4" rear, front discs. Finally street legal after about 5 years of effort, and a blast to drive.
Welcome from an Old Guy from CT. First car I drove my parents 49 4dr. Ply. I will try and find a photo to post.
Welcome from Tannersville PA in the Pococons - I have 49 Plymouth with the stock L6. I have a 318 for it but a swap is a long way off. Where in NE PA are you from?
I'm from Bloomsburg, which isn't very far from the Poconos. We're just about 3 miles from the access to I-80 at Mifflinville. Prior to the recent move to Bloomsburg, we lived in Berwick. As soon as I figure out how to do it, I'll post a picture or two of the Plymouth.
Fortunately, our home is located up high on a hill, so we were spared. A lot of folks right in the town of Bloomsburg had their homes devastated. The damage was unbelievable.
Welcome to the HAMB. Plymouths are the most comfortable of the low-priced three. I've owned a few of them and one day will own another.
Greetings.. I grew up in Erie and my first car was a 47 Plymouth Coupe. A lotta beer runs from Erie to Ripley, NY where legal age was 18. I'd give almost anything to have that one back.
I know what you mean. My first car was a 1948 Plymouth that my grandfather had purchased new. Foolishly, I sold it for about $40 or $50 because I needed money to repair a 1960 Chevy convertible back in 1969. I wish someone had given me a good swift kick where it hurts, because selling the Plymouth was incredibly stupid on my part. To this day I regret ever parting with that car.
Now that's crazy. In January of '69 I gave the Plymouth away, and sold my '60 chevy convertible, 348, tri-power to my boss for $250 along with my '57 Chevy. I was heading out to defend the good ole USA and was never planning to return to Erie.
