I grafted in these trunk lights from a Lexus GS model into a customers 29' sedan.Tig welded in and metal finished. What do you have? my metal work blog www.themetalsurgeon.com
I'll give him that but think his time & effort would have been better spent on a set of old Hudson lights or even 50 Pontiac's. I know everyone has Pontiac lights but there's a reason for that...They're kool as hell. If he wanted to be different there are hundreds of other choices but Lexus??? Just sayin.
Wow, really tough crowd this morning! I don't really care for them myself, but if you like them that's what counts. Not very HAMB'y
A little tunnel vision sir?! not bragging, you showing possibilities and remember this is a customers choice, not yours or mine. Now if you told me i'd hacked them in,then that would be a different story. Non Hamb? please explain in more detail. either way thanks for looking! my metal work blog www.themetalsurgeon.com
non hamb because lexus parts werent available in 1964. Nice install and they dont look that bad but thats more street roddy/modern than we like to see here.
ok fair point, what about the custom metal interior i made in 2009 (avatar pic) how does this fare in the land of the hamb? my metal work blog www.themetalsurgeon.com
I did have to re shape the lexus trunk light housing with various hammers, some quite possibly from the 60's and earlier.Maybe i should of said i made the housing from scratch and we would of had just the debate of taste? But to be fair i believe the mention of lexus threw everything off on the wrong foot to begin with. my metal work blog www.themetalsurgeon.com
Very nice metal work! Don't let em kick you down!! You did what the customer wanted and they are always right!!!
Perfect! that customer enabled me to pay my bills! and thank you for your post. my metal work blog www.themetalsurgeon.com
Take a look at any custom from the 50s and you'll see that type of design work on the headlights and tail lights. If you had'nt said Lexus no one would have known, it's not my taste but it is also not my car, I think the point everyone is missing is the metal work involved, nice job, not only on the lights, but on giving the customer what he wanted and being able to pay the light bill with it.
I thought of saggy ***ties when I saw them! Anyway, the important thing is the owner's happy and your skills shine through. Well done!
haha thanks boss! kiwis always have a good sense of humor! my weekly metal work blog www.themetalsurgeon.com
