    I have been looking through old threads for a couple of hours now and still cannot find the movie i am looking for. What movie is the one where a kid is into hotrods, his dad is a judge or something, the kid and his best friend save money by working a paper route to build a roadster with parts from a junk yard, and by the end of the movie the town gives in and builds a dragstrip for everyone? its been on my mind for weeks and im trying to buy a copy somewhere but i cant remember the movie's name. i think it was filmed in the mid 40's early 50's.....

    I know there were a bunch of old Mickey Rooney films, the "Andy Hardy" series that had Mickey running around in his Jalopy, and his dad was a judge. Not sure off the top of my head if your description fits any of those, but I havent seen the entire series either. Mid-later 30's into maybe early 40's for the timeline on those IIRC.

    Seems like what your talking about might be "The Cool Hot Rod" It was filmed in 53', but it was a 30 min TV documentary. Chuck Conners is a cop, the young hot-rodder gets a ticket, goes to traffic school, learns how to hop-up a car, then like you said, the town builds a drag strip for the kids.

    Hope this helps.

    Since someone brought up the short documentary, Oliver, your avatar made me think of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuCgJzt60ic.

    And yes, off the top of my head I dont think your description is one of the Andy Hardy flicks, but the ones Ive seen are all pretty good.

    Yeah I would have never known about it myself, but TCM tosses out some neat "shorts" quite often between features. Happened to catch this one one evening.

    There was another I caught that had actual dogs "acting" in the movie, even driving cars. Was made back in the late 30's I believe, would never get away with it today, but quite entertaining. I think it was called "The Big Dog House" or something like that, one of the pooches was tossed in jail for robbing a bank that he didnt rob, and it dealt with his girlfriend trying to clear his name etc.

  12. Thanks for the ideas. I love old films like these, some mentioned I've seen others I haven't.

    I'm impressed Nostalgia 59...I sell car movies and it's amazing how many people get portions of 3 different films all rolled into movie. Hot Rod 1950 is actually pretty good when you put it into perspective on what they had to work with in the time period that was shot

    Oliver;
    I sell at shows and events. I work a full time real job too, so really don;t get into ordering on line only because I have trouble doing it "right" because of limited time.
    HOWEVER, PM me with your email addresss and I will send you a list of what I carry and we can work from there.
