Started about a month ago and has become more pronounced lately.
    posible culprits:
    -bad gas
    -leaky shitty single barrel carb
-weird leakage from the header/intake side-doesn't smell like gas, more like oil.

I'm running the Petronix ignition unit and battery seems fine, so I don't believe it's electrical.

    Thanks,
    Kev

I'd run a compression check first, just to rule out a burned valve....and maybe try adjusting the valves too.

Maybe try to describe the "stumble" better--is it a hesitation on acceleration? a missfire? or what?

Big time stumble on acceleration but not every time-usually when I try to get on it alittle. Does this sort of hestating 'gurble' when idling, like it's going to die but catches it's breath.

I would guess its the accelerator[sp?] pump in your carb...that is if it just stumbles when accelerating and then clears up after the RPMs build up.

Most likley the pump is worn and not squirting enough gas...leaning out

This is just a long distance shot

check to see that the carb is firmly bolted to the intake, and that the base of the carb is firmly bolted to the middle of the carb, and the gaskets are not torn up.

I'm thinking it's the carb, too. I replaced the two fuel filters I have on it (one at the back and one inline before the fuel pump).

Also make sure the little jesus clip didn't fall off where the accelerator pump hooks into the throttle linkage on the carb. I got a 51 2dr sedan real cheap one time
because the accelerator pump had become disconnected & the guy did'nt know what was wrong & He'd already spent way too much $ replacing stuff trying to fix it. He thought it had a major problem. I paid the guy then fixed it right in front of him & drove off like a bat out of hell. Yea, I was a scumbag that day. HAHA.
