real nice chop on the 51 Mr Bleed....love to know how you altered the stainless round front windscreen. Heated and re-curved?
I've already commented twice in this thread, but I notice that I keep thinking about that '51. I've always liked shoebox coupes and Victorias. I have never liked sedans, however many doors they had. And I EXTRA don't like the '51 trim details, which is why I changed them all on my Vic. But the change that you did to the roof on that car so transforms its appearance that it makes up for all my other gripes. Really an outstanding job! What is new owner Ron's tag on the HAMB? I'd like to watch what he does with the car.
I can tolerate the Fordors ok, but I really dislike the Tudors, and I think for the same reason you don't like them: They just look like Fordors where the rear doors were never put in. -Dave
Hey thanks everybody! I just cut and welded the stainless.... I just heard from ron and he has been enjoying it and refining some things mechanicly....... its a really neat old car!
Ah. Here's that Deuce I was asking about in the Revolt thread.. Looks like I'm behind in my reading just a smidge. Looks killer though! iPhone - TJJ App
Hey everyone, Bob did a kick ass job on the chop. I think we have all seen chops that look good from one angle, but don’t quite flow all around. In my opinion, Bob really got all the lines correct. I think the way he moved the back window forward really helps with flow of the lines. As far as what I have planned for the shoebox…right now I just want to drive it. I will eventually paint the car, but this seems far off. That was why I was so interested in blending the current paint. I am keeping the flathead, so I have ideas on heads, intakes, multi-carb set up, etc. I want to re–do the interior but right now I am focused on just getting a headliner. Additional future body mods will probably be on the mild side (a little shaving of hoods and deck lids, removing the SS lower body trim, but leaving the door handles). Then there is re-chroming everything. I hope to get it all done…it’s just a matter of money and time. 50 fraud…I agree with you on some of the 51 trim. I removed the chrome windsplits and swapped the taillights with 49-50 taillights. I’m also considering losing all the lower SS trim (I like the 49-50 style that ends on the rear quarter…not the wrap around style that came on the 51.
^^ Good for you. I agree, and did the same stuff to my Vic. I also removed the V8 emblems from the front fenders, and changed the '51 trunk handle to a '50. I was surprised to discover that exactly FIFTY (!!) trim holes had to be filled to change the '51 to a '50. PS: In retrospect, the '51 trunk handle is actually prettier than the '50, but I was carried away in my zeal to make it a complete '50 phantom.
Looks good! I like how you matched the paint seems like it would have been a shame to paint the entire car.
Yeah...that Bob Bleed...3rd generation hot rodder, customizer, fabricator, rock star, reality TV star...you name it...dude has skills! Also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
Bob--I'm amazed, but not shocked by your skills. I'm assuming they came from the same tenacity that made Bleed an amazing rock show. I remember, back in the ol' Hairy Mary's days(my lousy surf rock band opened for you--Sherman Hillside Stranglers and I did my best to see you guys whenever possible), you told me how you recorded "Motorpsycho". That took some awesome creativity and balls, and came out just right. Exactly right. Thanks for sharing your builds on here. Bring the Jade Idol to Florida. We need it...
